Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Monday 24th May.It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good
Morning.
Another sunny day here, supposed the be the hottest of the year so far.
Yesterday we managed to get the PZ to see the powerboats, Bro in Law has a small rib, so we bounced out across the choppy sea to watch a mile or so off shore. Nice!
So back to the real world. Might take my boat out today, It's finished enough to use, so might go and launch and test the motor and stuff. May get a little fishing done too. OH has supply teaching all week, so that will keep her happy. Half term next week and then you get none.
E-bay is selling, just have to spend time putting more things on it. OH picked up some vintage dresses at the car boot, so they might sell.
No idea what's for tea, don't care at this stage. Something on the BBQ no doubt..
Have a good day folks...

Morning :hello:
N9eav, wish you'd stop posting, I'm very jealous of youI'll hazard a guess - is your boat in Meva? It's my favourite place in the world
My day has gone wrong already. I was going to watch Lost (start at 5.30am so I could skip through the ads). Miss tru and her friend slept in the lounge
I've spent the past two days hiding in the shade, as I'm up early I'll try and get a few jobs done while it's still cool. The heat completely drains me and I'm uselessMiss tru took the sun lotion with her on friday and disappeared for the weekend, so I haven't even been in the garden.
Before 10am, I need to clean out both chicken sheds, water the greenhouses, weed the veg patch, pick some spinach, nip to the shop for milk, iron a couple of shirts and vacuum downstairs. Then once it's too hot, I'll bung some washing in then settle down to watch Lost with some choc - straight from the fridge, yumBulletproof0 -
Morning N9eav, Tru & all to follow.
Phew its very warm here already. Have some office work to do then pop into town as need to buy a birthday present, also I will need to buy a Starbucks Frappacino to cool me down. :rotfl:
Didn't get loads done over the weekend - we just enjoyed the sunshine.
Must do Tesco online shop today as cupboards are looking empty, also need to get some ant killer as the ants are invading the kitchen.
Other than that the main aim will be to keep cool. Have got loads of washing dried over the weekend which means ginormous ironing pile - luckily have a fan where I do the ironing, will attempt some later.
Have a great day.x0 -
Morning all,
Its going to be a scorcher today :T, loving every moment of this weather, I dont sit out in it, but its lovely having all the doors and windows open, and being able to potter in the garden.
I have my at home job to do today 4 hours, so will get that done first thing, so by lunchtime I shall be free, need to do an online shop, and then potter some more in the garden, I have a few more seeds to plant, and little bits to do.
Dinner tonight will be the leftover chicken from yesterday, with salad, I bought a largish bag of new spuds yesterday and they have no flavour at all, so I need to think of another way to cook them, might roast them with garlic and onion. Will get dd a hm veggie meal from the freezer, lasagne I think.
If I get time I will make an orange drizzle cake, as I have some oranges that need using, going to wash the big throws from both beds, and store them away for the summer.
Jayward, hope you are ok hun xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Woken up at 2am by my youngest who climbed into bed with me covered in vomit - lovely. So had to clean him and me up and then investigated his bedroom - I just shut the door and left it until the morning!! No nursery for him then. One party and one huge BBQ at the weekend has left me with loads of leftovers for packed lunches and dinners tonight, so no cooking needed
Have to put BM on, WM already working hard - oh and car in for MOT today. Will be starting the declutter today - have set challenge of 100 things to declutter! Stay out of the sun today - or put cream on. Enjoy the summer whilst it lasts!!Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all
Bright, sunny and warm here again. Making the most of the weather today and tomorrow as the temperature is supposed to drop dramatically towards the mid/end of the week. Went away for the weekend and it was glorious, OH went into work on Sat am so I took DS1 and DS2 shopping, bought both boys a couple of new tops each, managed to buy DS1 a new phone, got my bro and sis birthday prezzies, and got myself some bargain shorts and vests tops - 2 pairs of shorts for £9.99 and 2 vest tops for £4.99 - and I've actually been wearing them, this is the first time I've worn shorts for years as I now feel confident enough to wear them due to the weight loss!
Have a bit of a strange week this week, as working all day today and then working just the mornings tomorrow and Wednesday - DS2 is going on a residential trip with school in July and the meeting is straight after school Tuesday afternoon so took half a day's holiday so I'm able to attend. That has worked in my favour though as we're going away on Friday so will give me some extra time to get up to date and on top of all my jobs before we go.
Have menu planned and we did bring some food back which we will be eating tonight and some we having in with pack ups.
Have a great day everyone.
Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning all
My kitchen looks like a laundry!! need to sort that out today!
I have 2 MS jobs to do which I think I'll get out the way this morning before it gets too warm and then I can the house organised for the week ahead as I'm off today and working friday instead.
DH was talking to the supervisor from his job on saturday last night and he said there should be more days over the summer and was asking if he could work evenings and told him to get in for the next SIA training course as that opened up the jobs you were offered. Sounds promising and DH was really suprised and pleased that he enjoyed the job.

Good Morning All. N9eav - really envy you being able to be on a boat yesterday = best place in the world when the sun is shining. I was brought up on the Dorset coast, and despite having left more than 40 years ago and been inland ever since I do so miss it! Essex-girl, good luck with the ironing! Not my favourite job at any time, but certainly not in the warmer weather.
esmf73 - great clutter challenge! My house would probably still look cluttered with 100 items gone!
Have already cleaned mirrors, TV, and two windows. Am about to walk Mollie before it gets too hot, for me as well as her. Have an appt in town later, and hope to visit the gym. Need to do some serious tidying in our bedroom today. Having DS and family to stay meant putting all the toot in our room once again. Still, definitely doesn't take me as long nowadays to move the stuff around, so must be slowly getting rid os some of it.
WM made very strange noises yesterday and I noticed some water on the floor nearby later. Hope it was just badly loaded and not going sick on me. Will find out later when I put the towels in.
Have a great day everyone - and take care.Resolution:

Good Morning,
Another lovely day. No work for me, I am in far too much pain and discomfort, I will need to go back to the doctor today. The painkillers are working, but they leave me too dopey to drive, or work! Boys are waiting for their lift, dope that I am, I never bought bread in my delivery as I was going to make some, but of course, I haven't been able to-so they don't have sandwiches today, they have a kind of snack box thing!
Hope you all have a great day.
