Do Evans Halshaw charge for payment by CC?
Options
I know I can find out in the morning, but just wondering.
Need to replace my 56 Focus. Seen another on EH,the one I have came from there and I have had no problems with it.
Going to see the car I want Tuesday, difference with PX about 4k, and wondered if EH charge if I pay by Mastercard. Money is in the bank account but I thought paying by CC I could "exchange on the spot"

Why do you need to change from a 56?
And mst garages will charge about 2.5% if you use yoiur CC as this is what the garage will be charged by your bank.0 -
If money is in the bank, perhaps using a debit card is a possibility?
Will be cheaper, or probably free.0 -
When you hand over your card to pay and they mention that their is a charge, say "oh, doesn't matter then." Then go to walk out. I bet they do the deal.
My mate did this at a back street used car dealer for a 1.3K used motor.0 -
Why would a customer stand for a credit card charge for a car if they wouldn't for their supermarket shopping? None of the dealers I know pass on the charge (although some are twitchy about having a recharge though!).0

Most supermarkets / major retailers, because of the sheer volume of credit card transactions that they handle, have created their own merchant handling service. Some terminals / receipts will say "by paying by card, you agree that 2.5% of the value will be paid to Tesco Card Handling Services Ltd" (or something along those lines).Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I'm guessing that few car dealers can economically go to the same trouble.
Other retailers will simply build the cost of the transaction fee into their prices (effectively meaning that those who don't pay by credit card are paying more to cover those that do).Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Paying 2.5% on your shopping bill of say, £60 isnt much compared to a dealer taking a 2.5% hit on a £5000 car.
We ALWAYS charge the customer 2.5% if they buy their car using their CC. Why should we be out of pocket?
also, the reason why supermarkets dont appear to charge for CC payments is they put their prices up by a very small margin to cover such events0 -

Possibly because supermarkets in general don't negotiate individual prices with their customers.
I would guess most major dealers have a policy on this - smaller ones less often.
It's a factor in negotiating a price - before it comes to payment, not afterwards.
If they don't charge you, and don't mention it at all, you've paid over the odds.0 -
I have just changed car and whilst the dealer did not charge for taking the deposit on a CC they would have charged if I had paid the balance. It was explained beforehand and was up to me, I just moved the money into my normal account and paid by debit card so no fee.but I thought paying by CC I could "exchange on the spot"Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0
