Essexgirl, then the drive towards Boulogne sounds right. Very good, smooth, undulating single lane road, and the WW2 museum has plenty of parking.

A great view of the Channel and cobbled streets with little cafes are not very far away.

I go to France a lot, and as I always seem to use the main routes I always dream about getting of the A roads and driving through the villages

    have a great time

Where is this WW2 museum? I've heard of La Coupale (sp?), but not the one you keep mentioning towards Boulogne?

We left the main routes yesterday and took the country roads, you can find some lovely places doing that, and no potholes! (lol)

Thanks all. I spotted a WW2 museum that has a massive dome like concrete structure that looked interesting.

Any cute little towns or villages to recommend?

drive out of Calais, through Sangatte. Head towards Boulogne and you will see the museum on your right

Essexgirl, may be the one you saw. Depends where you were etc

There's some nice walks along between the Caps. The beaches are great along there too.
