Coming off income support

Hi all
I REALLY need some help. I had my baby in september my partner is a student and i am soon starting work. At my job i have to work a month in advanced and do not get paid until the following month, i read somehwere that if you come of income support and go into work you can get a one off £1000 payment is this true. I am trying to get my head around how i am going to survive for a month. If this is not the case then there really should be a system such as in place to help out!!
I will be entitled to WTC but this is paid in arrears so i will have no income and i have my rent coming out too.
Thanks for any help in advance its desperately needed.

I'm not sure that there is a payment that would amount to £1000 but there is the Job Grant which can be as much as £250 depending on circumstances.Hi all

There is also 'Alignment to Wages' which is paid via the Social Fund system. That would have to be paid back.0 -
If you live with a student partner you shouldn't actually be claiming IS as a lone parent at all.0

You need to go and see one of the advisors at the job centre, I know, as a lone parent I would get a £250 one off payment, my HB and CTC run on for a month, an extra £40 per month (can't quite remember what that was for!)
As well as tax credits and child benefit obviously.Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0 -

Yes back to work payments and that's depending on meeting certain criteria.
