Cancelling Photoshoot Order?

My Girlfriend went to New ID Studios in London for a makeover and photoshoot as part of a Red Letter Day gift. When viewing the results she decided to purchase some photos and the cost comes in at £700. She signed up to a credit agreement where she has to pay £22 a month over 40 months.

Now as we are currently trying to work our way out of debt we both decided that she had been a bit hasty in spending so much on these photos are we are looking at the possibility of cancelling the order. Now as she bought the CD with the initial pics home it would appear from their T&Cs that she is bound to the contract. However I was under the impression that all finance agreements had a 14 day cooling off period? Please help us clear this mess up. We can't really afford them and I will be ringing their customer services number tomorrow (not open weekends) to see what can be done.

Unless you signed the contract to buy the photos in your home, or YOUR place of wok then there is no cooling off period so you are bound to buy the goods.

These places are notorious on here for their strict contracts and pushy/bullying sales tactics. Unfortunately, its a costly mistake, put it behind you and enjoy the photos!

Still maybe worth an ask though, just dont hold your breath!

Not really a scam, me and my family "won" a photo shoot, come the sale, you just say no and keep your head switched on and you wont be ripped off. Its not a scam, just pressure selling which the week tend to fall for. Not nice but completely avoidable.

It is a scam. You highlight this by the fact you quote the word "Win" in your posts because you know you actually didnt win it. Because everyone wins one that enters.

As for the hard sell? They take a deposit off of you before your day to "confirm" your slot but this is refundable only against photos you buy, so really is not refundable.

As for the one "free" photo, that is printed on !!!!!! paper and not one f the best ones so inadvertently sways you to buy some. You dont think they dress you up and make you up for nothing.

Apart from that we genuinely won it in a raffle, they were a legitimate company and quite good.

Of course the hard sold, they need to make a living, but they didnt take a deposit before and there were no catches for the free photo, yes it was small but worth £100 and just as good quality, so dont tarnish all of these companies with the same brush! theyre not all scams, to odd few ones are but the majority of ones we here about are legitimate companies with very pushy sales which may be immoral but does not make it a scam in any way.

SOme are scams, but most are not, a scam would involve some dishonesty or malicious activity to deprive you of something through trickery etc.

Selling something is none of this, hard selling is not a scam, it can be a bad exoerience for some but IMHO its there own fault for putting themselves in a position where they know they will be pushed towards a sell.

Paying a refundable deposit under the premises you receive it back when you get there to find out that this is only refundable against photos is dishonest and a scam
