Is your expectation of what the camera can do too high?
If you've paid less than £100 for it, then you can't really expect it to do what a £300 camera will do.
Does it have some function that, when switched on, drains the battery?
I've been reading reviews of the Panasonic TZ10 which has GPS capability but that apparently really drains the battery unless it's switched off.
As someone else has said, if it's the particular camera you have (rather than the model as a whole) then that's totally different to buying a camera that you've not held and tried out and have just decided it's not what you wanted.
