Hi all,
Just wondered if anyone can help please? I bought a camera mid April from Argos and was told that it is exempt from the 30 day return policy.
However, the camera is pants, the light is bad, its battery operated and we went through 3 sets of batteries in one day! It is just not a good camera.
However, what can I do? I want to return it as I think it is a waste of money and had I seen it in the shop (working etc) then I wouldn't have bought it but obviously you can't do that at Argos.
Thanks

If the camera is faulty, take it back for a refund, replace or repair.
If it just not as good as you thought it would be, in other words you have changed your mind, then that is a different matter.
Their 30day returns policy is designed to cater for this type of situation, but as you have been told this camera is not covered by this policy, I guess you will have difficulties.0 -
thanks for that, but what can I do if I have just changed my mind? Can I return it to Sony or am I just stuck with it????Pay off as much as you can in 2011: £780/£8000Vouchers through surveys/shopandscan: £10/£250Ebay/Paypal target for 2011: £109/£10000

If you have just changed your mind, you are stuck with it I'm afraid.
It really is up to you to do your research before purchase.
Any offer to exchange or refund in this situation is in addition to your rights.
You could always take it back and ask them to exchange it.0 -
I agree with wealdroam about researching before you buy.
What model of camera is it?
I use this website for reviews:

actually you can (in our 2 argos' but not sure if it a whole company thing)
all you need to do is go to customer service desk and ask, rather than go straight to checkout. im not saying this to be picky, just they might use this as a reason to refuse a refund. Can you see the mountains through the fog?0 -
It sounds as if you bought it without having the faintest idea of its specification. In other words, you did no research whatsoever. You now find that it does not do what you thought that it would and you want someone else to take the problem off your hands. I have just bought a new camera last week after reading many reviews. It is not quite as good as I thought that it would be. But I would not dream of taking it back. It was my decision and I will stick with it.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
To be honest the 30 day policy and not being able to return certain items isn't a problem here.
Take the camera back to Argos. Calmly explain your problem and they will help you out. I had the same problem a few years ago. I researched what camera I wanted, bought it from Argos as they were the best priced supplier. Camera did not live up to expectations. I took it back, explained the situation and the camera was replaced with another. The replacement was fine
Your problem could be with the camera itself, rather than that the camera range isn't good.
Worth a try, Sony cameras are normally very good. Ok I had a problem with one, but as a range they do get quite good ratings

If you can't take it back get some good rechargable batteries. Cameras which take normal AA batteries just drain the power, but if you're stuck with the camera then the good rechargables tend to last a bit longer.0

These type of batteries loose their charge when not used, every time I went to use my camera after a few weeks non use and having put fully recharged batteries in the result was no power, these were quality 2100 mah Duracell rechagable batteries as well.
I replaced them with Duracell active charge and not had the problem since, they are excellent for such use and according to the blurb retain 70% (I think) charge over 1 year of non use.0
