    Hi Amos

I changed to them a couple of months ago, no probs so far, but a price rise is expected soon. I don't think their prices have risen for a while so i think its fair.

From my understanding they try to help those on lower incomes who would normally have to pay extra to have key metres. Equipower offer equal prices for everyone.

But one thing's for certain, my meter cupboard is going to get :money: logo on the door to deter would-be competitors from trying to sign me up :)

I'm with Scottish Power and I'm thinking of doing it as well!:rotfl:

Sorry, getting silly now - there's a proper post up above!

Just because something or someone has beliefs in line with the gospel ( which I suppose I do) doesnt make them weird. Im not Christian, but many of my values are IYSWIM

    I think you are overreacting
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

  • At the end of the process it tells me that my biggest saving can be had from a utility company that seem to be run by some weird religious order...But I'm kind of wary of signing up because I don't want my meter readers to turn up with a scanner in one hand and a bible in the other....but I strongly suspect it's run by nuns who wouldn't appreciate my coarseness when things go wrong. Besides, I've seen Father Ted, and I certainly don't want to listen to Ava Maria as the hold music either"
I find these comments unbelievable and disrepectful to this co which has done a great deal of work for consumers and has similiar values to mse. . First of all this co is not run by any religious order and you don't need to be religious to be one of its customers- all it is trying to do is ensure fairness in pricing. All billing is dealt with via the major players (southern electricity etc) and you call their call centre. ebico is manned by volunteers. everyone pays same price for gas- it is the fault of the major utility cos and not ebico that people pay different prices for electricity. all to do with ownership of wires that take electricity to home. and before you ask no i have no vested interest in this company (directly or otherwise).

Wigginsmum I'm a pagan and proud of it, and to those humphing about some of the comments regarding not wishing to have "bible bashers" knocing at your door then to me this WOULD be an important point. I respect freedom of speech amongst other things and freedom of choice. I don't try and force my theological views on anyone and I get grumpy when anyone knocks on my door for whatever reason to do so. Now my family are mainly protestant, my step mother is catholic (russian) my dads previous wife (not my mum) was a Jehovah's witness and I turned out a witch... But hey not like there is a history of persecution of us or anything ;) Good job I enjoy a good BBQ I guess...

The point is that Amos doesn't wish anyone to end up preaching to him about his eternal damnation everytime he goes to pay his utility bills and thank goodness he manages to write posts that make at least some of us smile a little when we read them. I am certain he meant no offence to those of a strong Christian pursuasion, just the same as I don't.
In a world with so much polical upheaval can't us DFW's at least agree that we should be able to laugh at ourselves just occasionally? Goodness knows I laugh at myself (everytime I walk past a mirror usually..) all the time but then I'm almost a walking comedy :)

Oh and i am proud to say I buy 90% of all my fruit juice from a local farmers market stall - run by an christian commune and the people who man the stall are proud of what they believe in and do and so am I :) They believe in looking after what God created... So do I just that I don't believe in God so we've kinda got the same goal and almost same path... just different signage ;)

Not unfamiliar with Paganism myself - was a witch for many years and DH is still a Pagan. I've suffered as much abuse from Pagans for being a Christian as I ever did as a Pagan from Christians. You only have to look at the way Christians were treated over the centuries in Rome to see the door has swung both ways. Persecution is vile, no matter who does it to whom.

I happen to agree about not wanting Bible bashers at the door - but I do think Amos has overreacted. I'm not offended by his comments, just a bit bemused at the mountain out of a molehill.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.
