One of my pet hates is coloured bathroom suites. Another is coloured lavatory-paper. And I'd really like to shoot whoever it was that invented those mats that go round the lavatory pan. I've never figured out exactly what they are supposed to be for, bar catching wee-wee dribbles. *shudders*.

Oh, I'll be the awkward brigade today. What's wrong with it? The mats and clutter will all disappear if you buy the house, and what you are left with is a perfectly functional bathroom. We are all so wasteful these days, chucking out things that have years of life left in them.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

keeping your feet warm instead of putting your feet on bare tiles
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.

That bathroom is actually pretty similar to the one I inherited with this house - except ours is in blue. Similar tiles - and up the side of the bath too. Not got all the nickynacks though. I have a green toilet downstairs. You'd all love it! :D

We had an aquamarine toilet in our last house. When we replaced it (with a white one!) we had someone knocking on our door to ask if they could have it out of the skip because it matched their bathroom.

I'd rather have something that was good quality, even if it was old-fashioned. I'd rather have an old-patterned axminster carpet than shoddy laid laminate, even if it did look more modern. As long as it was clean and in good nick I don't particularly care. :D
  • That pink suite would look lovely against white walls and whitewashed boards to lower walls. Plus fluffy white towels and some accent pinks on the walls.

I move into a home and look at what I can work around to prevent having to rip things out which still have a work life. I could make that bathroom really special

If those tiles are the ones I think they are (ie you had) they're a white almost vaguely textured with pink 'veins' running through them at odd angles and sideshooting off at various tangents.

My mum had these tiles in her house for many years, inherited them - had them in a charming light blue in the bathroom complete with ice-cold light blue bathroom suite (made one feel as though one was a polar bear, even in summer!) and downstairs they're STILL installed but in an even more tasteful mid green. She revamped the bathroom about 3 years ago but the kitchen is still the same.

We actually, on a holiday on the way to Bradford-on-Avon (so guessing Wiltshire) in either a tea room or pub saw the self same tiles but with the *gorgeous* pink veins. We were quite chuffed to see they had the same style as our house - dating I think from 50's onwards...

The shame is, I bet they're retro and someone has them again. :o

Oh, and my mum's sister owns a tile company and let her have tiles for bathroom at discounted price.... *sigh of relief*:smileyhea
