Trying to return V+ box

I moved house over a month ago. Virgin TV isn't available at my new address so I kept my phone & broadband but cancelled my TV package.
First they said an engineer would call to arrange picking up the V+ box. This didn't happen. I called them again & they said they don't use engineers for that any more but they'd send a jiffy bag for me to post it back to them. This didn't happen. I called again & they said they'd send another jiffy bag. Another week has passed & still no jiffy bag. It's been over a month now & I'm sick of the V+ box cluttering up my house. I want rid of it! What do I do now?

You hang on to the box until the bag arrives. Seems Virgin are slow at sending them out. People on this forum have been caught out getting rid of the box for the bag to turn up. Virgin will bill you if you do not return the box.0

Follow donnac2558''s advice, the collections are done by an outside agency now & they take an age. We,as engineers, did used to collect boxes if the work was slack at one point. But dont bin the box, stick it in a carrier bag in the meter cupboard but dont bin it,not unless you have a spare £250 (ish)

Hi
Keep your box as VM will bill you if you get rid of it. Also VM now takes ages to send them jiffy bags so just be patanit0 -
If its a major issue then send them a recorded letter giving them 30days to collect or provide mailing details, then bin it if no reply with that time schedule.0

Bad advise there.
VM's outside collections agency will assign their debt collection company to collect renumeration for the loss of the STB which will also go onto your credit file with Experian ect if not paid.0 -
I was told that im not supposed to but recently i've decided to follow spikes advice and take peoples old boxes away for them and send them back to virgin (Virgin Media Engineer)0

No, it wont effect your credit rating in any way shape or form, possibly if it went to county court and you lost and you still didn't pay, but other wise, nope.
Just becuase they want you to do certain things does not mean you have to, you do not need to store and look after some random company's goods indefinitely, once given a reasonable amount of time to pickup, bin.0 -

Once again, bad advice.considering I've worked for NTL/VM & have done the disconnections & collections myself & therefore know how they work, they will persue any debt owed.It will also affect getting a VM service at a later date.0 -
I understand you worked for them, and can see why you have been trained to look at it from that angle, however.
There is no debt to chase, it is an unfair contract (if one even exists) to expect the customer to hold their property indefinitely.
If the customer gives plenty of opportunity for collection and attempts to complete their side of this "contract" then there will be no comeback, 30days will be deemed to be enough.0 -

Keep the box, return it when they send the bag/box out, however long it takes, otherwise you could find the debth collectors knocking!
My mum is moving from a cable area, and the advice I was given yesterday was they would send a box, and we are to send it back, getting a proof of posting reciept from the PO so we can proove we sent it, if it doesnt arrive back at virgin.0
