    Good evening all,

Sorry for not coming back sooner....I can't quote everyone posts so I'll just hope that my wafflings answer it all!

Work over the past 2 days has been quite horrific :(, I have ended up doing the same thing so many times where things kept changing last minute that at one point I nearly burst into tears! I haven't been sleeping well in general but the past few nights have been even worse, obviously just had a lot on my mind about money, exams, holidays and what to do for the best.

I appreciate everyone's point of view, even those who have said pay it back and be done with it. I totally get that way of looking at it and I've wondered so many times if I should still be heading down that road but as EB said, I'm not adding to my debt with this decision, in fact, I will still be reducing my DFD because I am going to up my DMP payment and I am going to carry on saving as I have been.

Money wise, things have been pretty good! I had a good week on Ebay and withdrew £90 today to go into my bank and have £20 left in paypal to get a few Xmas gifts. Need to pay in some pub wages too and my music magpie cheque but also instantly transferred £150 from my wages to savings today in respect of my payrise.

    Ok, so the holiday front......

Well we looked, looked some more and looked at some more, it's such hard work to find exactly what you want in an area with soooooooooo many choices! I picked my top 5 and told OH to look through them, he started to do that, got bored, then wanted to look again....men! I was really struggling to pick between 2 different islands when I had this stupid hair brain idea of perhaps doing a week on two different islands rather than the whole lot in one place :rotfl:. I spoke to my bosses girlfriend who works for First Choice but the people she spoke to just said a flat out NO, it can't be done...this is a bit silly really because it CAN be done and I am aware of people who have had this organised for them by first choice, ah well, if they don't want my money :p

    So, I went back to a lady at a company called Mark's travel (who are a agent for Kuoni) who had been really helpful with suggestions already. It also helped that she had been to everyone of my top 5 Islands (am I jealous....much?) and was able to give me some recommendations. She explained that transferring between Islands wasn't massively straightforward as all transfers go through the airport terminal in Male...BUT....although she couldn't do a twin centre with my original first choice, she could do a twin centre with my favourite other two :j. We haven't booked just yet but the current itinerary goes like this;

Fly out over night with Emirates, have a stop off at Dubai (unless direct isn't much dearer then I'll book that instead) and arrive in Male at 8.30am. Take a 30 minute speedboat transfer to an Island called Biyadhoo, it's a very basic island with rooms like something from the 80's but it's got a very good house reef and does lot's of curries and cocktails...it's also a REALLY good price. We will do 7 nights here before getting a speedboat back to Male.

We then transfer to the seaplane terminal and after a 25 minute flight over the atoll we arrive in Vilamendhoo. Vila is currently closed for a refurb and is opening again next month so it will be all fresh and new :D. Vila is supposed to have one of the best reef's inthe south and is far more luxurious than Biyadhoo with a free minibar (very important!). We will also have a beach villa here so will be just a few steps from the sea. After 7 nights we get a seaplane back to Male for the flight home!

I can't tell you the cost because a) it's obviously quite a bit and b) I feel bad telling you when I know I shouldnt really be doing it....I don't want to rub anyone's face in it so to speak. :o

I am waiting for OH to confirm time off tomorrow and I'll be booking then working out how I lose 4 stone in 6 months :rotfl:

    xx

Here here to what woowoo said! It's not rubbing noses in if it's in your own diary! People read each others diaries for updates into their lives, decisions and results of those decisions... And I for one am inspired to work my butt off at debt busting if it means I can have a cash holiday!

Enjoy it - and keep us posted - with pics!

    Don't be sorry at all!

I want to hear all about it - although I have to say that I will be very jealous! :D

What it costs is what it costs, so long as you're happy with the price (you're the one paying it after all!) then feel free to mention it, we all know you're not the sort of person who would want to rub people's noses in it.

I'm going to go on about Borneo till people are bored to tears no doubt, so you should join me, just substitute the Maldives for Borneo! :rotfl:

And a few years ago when I gave up smoking and decided to be all healthy (what happened?!) I went from 10st to 8st on the Curves version of the Atkins diet in less than six months.

Think I could have lost more if I'd wanted to so that one might be worth checking out :)

You guys are all so sweet! :D

I am patiently waiting for dear OH to let me know he's booked time off......I told him not to make me wait all blinking day!

Prices may have changed but it's around £1,700 each for the whole lot, it's AI on both Islands so we wont need much in the way of spending money. A lot of money but still a 'peanuts' budget for the Maldives

I think that's a really good price for a twin trip to the Maldives Jody and worth every single penny :)

  • Sounds so exciting Jody! What month have you decided to go?

I love the idea of the Maldives, although recently been thinking about St Lucia although I don't know much about the place! Just looks stunning :p

It's great that the price is AI and the fact that you have it saved already means you are not interrupting your debt busting ways and you are not adding to the debt so nothing to worry about...

    Well jealous though! :rotfl:
