Cameron: House Prices Will "Continue To Rise"

The house price index for the local area, shows drops for six of the last twelve months. Although it's entirely possible that the area is just performing extraordinarily badly. It's probably in some way linked to the large number of job losses in the area, which don't include the predicted public sector cuts.
For a town that is dependant on this public sector work, is this really just anecdotal or more of a sign of things to come?0 -

I dont thing figures and statistics are a true reflection either.
In my area the market is bloated with old stock thats lay stagnant. The only properties that are selling are being listed 20% less than they would have in 2007/2008.
The fact remains though that you have excellent FTB properties listed at 15% less than people were paying two years ago yet there are no takers...
Until those types of properties start shifting Im convinced a recovery in house prices is a couple of years away.0 -

Tell that to the tens of thousands of young people being priced out of owning a home.
Pity they didnt get a hand out like you did to get on the ladder eh?0 -

Of course each local area can act differently.
Some of the links I showed provides a breakdown into a more local area rather than the whole of the UK
Of course, if your happy to divulge your area, we can discuss in more detail.:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.

I didn't get a handout, I just saved up like mad and bought a knackered 2 bed house, ripe for renovation in an area that I didn't particularly want to live. We've renovated the house now and in a few years, we'll probably move to a similar sized house in a better area. A few years after that we may buy a larger house in the same area or another similar sized house in an even better area.
It's called climbing the ladder, and not having unrealistic ambitions - such as buying a 3 bed apartment in the centre of London for £80k."I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. I'm out of patience, children. I'm coming to find you now." - Harry Powell, Night of the Hunter, 1955.0 -

Did you PM hamish or did you send an 'open letter' on a publicly assessible internet forum?"I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad. Do you think you're having a private conversation while posting on an internet discussion forum?"I can hear you whisperin', children, so I know you're down there. I can feel myself gettin' awful mad.
