He said "cities on the East Coast main line"
Glasgow isn't.
Neither are any of the Scottish cities served north of Edinburgh... Inverness is at the top of Highland Main Line and towns to Aberdeen are on the Edinburgh to Aberdeen Line. So let's just assume that all our pants are remaining dry. :beer:Nope and it is not going to be part of the route at some point in the future (allegedly)
Indeed, see the East Coast pages dedicated to the Eureka! project, which will basically see all EC's paths to Glasgow passed to CrossCountry Trains. It means fewer direct trains from Glasgow to London, none to Peterborough (a pain for my occasional Glasgow / Norfolk commute) but more direct trains to.... errrrrm, Wakefield, Sheffield, Chesterfield, Derby and Burton-on-Trent. It makes little sense beyond there, because it's quicker to get to Birmingham and stations south of there via Virgin Trains' direct services via the West Coast Main Line. We'll also loose East Coast's comfy, spacious old IC225 trains, and gain a load of noisy and cramped CrossCountry Voyagers. It'll improve services for the cities on the east coast, but at the expense of Glasgow's variety of service.0 -
All pants remaining dry suits me just fine!!
Seriously though, thanks for the tip re; the tickets.0 -

You're most welcome. Sadly it's not such a deal for me, because I can usually book well in advance with my 16-25 Railcard (even though I'm 27... teeheehee) and it's cheaper for me to book a through ticket via the X1 bus from Peterborough to rural Norfolk. Hence my annoyance at the proposal to cull our East Coast services from Glasgow.0 -
