Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for Saturday 22th May.It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good
Morning.
Looks to be another fine and sunny day. Yesterday felt hot even though in the big scheme of things it was only 70 or so. Worked most of the day then got home and cut the grass. That took much longer than normal as the grass was much longer than normal.
Poly tunnel was 96f, that's pretty warm! It will come in to it's own this week when the we are supposed to get near freezing temps and wind on Wednesday!
NNQ for tea and then some relaxation. Popped into ASDA yesterday, they are really cutting prices in some areas. Big Frosties for 97p (Of course the shelf was empty) Motor oil 3 for £10, huge saving if you need any. We will have to do shopping today, so I guess I might go there. I have a £6 voucher for Tesco and they have the 5p a litre off, but I am sure ASDA will be cheaper.
Not sure what to do today. Work on a few things and then perhaps go beach or something.
Well.... cheers folks have a good weekend

To summarise lots of shopping today for kids clothes and meat from Costco. Not much OS going on and I have no idea whats for tea
N9eav - are those near freezing temps for just your way? I've just planted out my courgettes and don't want to lose them!
Hugs to those that need them. Have a lovely saturday OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife Louise Brooks

            Morning :hello:
The heating switched on at 5.30am, I rushed downstairs to turn it back off
Anyone hungry? I've just brought a big tray of salad leaves in from the greenhouse I planted the tomato seeds, all very carefully spaced out evenly, they're all growing - along with the ones that have sprouted all by themselves from the compost, it all looks very messy now I planted the tomato seeds, all very carefully spaced out evenly, they're all growing - along with the ones that have sprouted all by themselves from the compost, it all looks very messy now
The chickens are fab, as usual Oh and all the minis now have names - Ruby, Smokey Jo, Fudge, Cassie and Pinky (I didn't forget about you, Pink-winged) Oh and all the minis now have names - Ruby, Smokey Jo, Fudge, Cassie and Pinky (I didn't forget about you, Pink-winged)
We've had a quote - mates rates - to have the kitchen rendered and plastered, just need to move the electric sockets and water pipes. For some reason, the previous owners decided not to put them in straight, but to make a pretty copper maze. Never mind, there'll be loads left over to weigh in and sell
That's about it from me. I've been very lazy all week, I need to get back into the swing of things before the laziness becomes normal Bulletproof0 Bulletproof0

The site I looked at was showing 0-6 c overnight depending on where you live. That may get better as it's a few days off, but it certainly seems cooler spell is coming?Bitsy_Beans wrote: »

            Morning all
Just going to drop hubby at school, in theory this should be his last day there, but they've been saying that since before Christmas! I'll come back & do some housework. I've had a look in the fridge & freezer & worked out a mealplan that will last us til next weekend when it's payday, it will be a bit tight, but we'll manage. I need to buy mushrooms & spread today, but that's about all.
 Have a good day everyone.
 Hugs Hester

Good Morning N9eav, Bitsy and Tru - and all to follow. Am up earlyish for Saturday watching The Gruffalo with DGD - all wide-eyed she is! DS2 seems a bit better after a spell in hospital last weekend with pancreatitis. His partner and daughter came up yesterday for w/e and all should return home tomorrow. I've cried off choir at church as I think I'll be there with LO - and she needs entertaining!
It's been quite a worrying time, one way or another and my OS ventures haven't been too noticeable. Love your polytunnel N9eav - and should be really useful. I've heard that the weather is to change drastically after the w/e too - no wonder there's so many colds around, you need your all-seasons wardrobe available all the time lately. Still, hoping for bbq later today, plus paddling pool in the garden.
Need to sort out loads in the house - new floorcovering for loo and bathroom needed as ancient cork tiles are shifting and breaking up. Also need to get coldfill WM plumbed into garage which will mean new waste outlet. New kitchen being fitted at end of June, so that needs sorting out too. Am hoping to run large chest freezer down before then as well.
Well, I hope you all have a good day. ((HUGS)) to those who need them. Take care.

            Morning All
Not very sunny start here at the moment but I beleive its going to be a stunning day soon :j
Wanted to get all my housework done yesterday but got called out to work instead. House is reasonable so will leave it till the weather cools down next week.
DS came home from his weeks trip with the school, totally exhausted and with no voice, he had a brilliant time.
Plan to have barbeques tomorrow and today so will go and have a look in the freezer in a mo. Lots of washing to be done, havn't even opened DS' case yet :rotfl:
 Have a lovely Saturday.x0

            Morning everyone:wave:
Hope everyone is fine and enjoying this lovely weather. Started off lovely and warm yesterday but turned to thunder and lightening in the afternoon. Never heard the thunder as loud!
Have had a hectic couple of days with DD not being well. She must have picked up a sickness bug as she was being sick wed night and Thurs. Seems to be a little better today but still very lethargic. Trying to get her to drink lots (and have ice poles:D).
OH is supposed to be coming home today:T but depends on weather as they had really bad fog yesterday:mad:
OS wise got my meal plan to do and some HW:(
Then I think a couple of drinks tonight with OH after DD goes to bed:) I deserve it after having not a lot of sleep the last 3 nights. Will prob have 2 glasses and fall asleep:rotfl:
 Have a lovely day everyone

            Morning al
 What a fab morning it's boiling already :j it's boiling already :j
I'm up earlyish to go have my haircut and get a few bits abobs before I meet the girls for lunch. One of our friends who lives in Bristol is visiting so will be nice to see her.
I didn't sleep too weel, combination of being too hot and with the windows open I could hear all the cars/taxi's that went over the speed bumps outside every so often!!
I wanted to put WM on this morning but I got up too late for it to do it's thing and be hung out before I have to leave to make hair appointment, so it will just have to wait til tomorrow.
Not much OS planned. Dishes need washing and I need to think of something for dinner. I was thinking of HM chilli but it's too warm for that so will need to rethink. Maybe just a fancy salad.
 Have a great saturday all
