    Of course if not of historical importance you perhaps could register the house with Land Registry yourself and just ignore the deeds?

    We will check the Land Registry, but would like to keep our deeds.

    Banks and building soc may well, "store for free", my mother's building soc did. The catch was that when she wanted them out (in order to register her house) THEY CHARGED HER £35 POSTAGE!! Made no difference that she had them posted to her local branch (where she got her mortgage years ago), still got charged the same.

    I did all the registration forms for her, simple task. Got a discount on the Land Registry fee as they want to encourage the owners of older properties which are not registered to do so.

    We thought it might avoid a bit of additional faff about when she eventually dies.
