Problems with Belkin modem/router

Options
I bought a Belkin FSD7630 when I got broadband from e7even.com a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't get connected regularly and after being assured by E7even and BT that there were no problems, I contacted Belkin. After several calls, fortunately to a freephone no, they said the unit was faulty and needed to be replaced. I have got the second one set up and am having exactly the same problems. I've installed the firmware update. Sometimes I get a connection for up to 1/2 hr, but then the Syn light starts flashing and the data light goes off. Sometimes the Syn light stays off for ages. For the last couple of days I've only been able to get connected for about 45 mins a day. It's plugged into the main phone socket, with one phone off the line. I have no other phone lines.
Has anyone else had this kind of problem? If I end up returning it, what make of modem/ router should I go for.
Thanks in advance.
Further update
After contacting e7even again, they contacted Bt. Bt engineer has just been out and has repaired a fault on the main box. Modem was not at fault at all.
E7even tech support were v. helpful. I'm just miffed that BT told me there was no problem with the line last week, when clearly there was.

E7even are pretty good at fixing problems like this. If you've returned the router to Belkin once already, I dont think its your responsibility to do so again. Contact E7even and ask if you could swap if it for a BT Voyager Router. They are pretty reliable from my personal experience.
  • I am using same Belkin F5D7630 for last 3 months now, works perfect with Virgin, BT & HotChilli.

But best is Linksys WAG54G, slightly expensive than Belkin but much cheaper than BT Voyager.
  • I bought the same wireless router, the F5D7630uk4A, I couldn't ever get a decent connection - it was on and off all the time.
I sent a ton of e-mails spoke and went through their online technical support team (who are, it has to be said, absolutely appalling). Eventually they relented that the unit was a piece of crap and sent me this e-mail:

    Thank you for contacting Belkin.

Regarding the replacement of your faulty product under warranty, I would be
happy to replace the item. The F5D7630uk4A is now an obsolete item, so the
replacement I am able to offer you is the F5D7632uk4.

If you would be happy to receive this as a replacement, please let us know.

The new one is almost identical - different cover but thats about it. However they've fixed whatever problem they were having with it and it works very well now. Occassionally loses connection and needs reset every couple of days but is fine for wireless broadband.

I looked on a whole load of forums about the first router and found a hell of a lot of people having the same problem with this particular model so it sounds as if they are replacing them all - as long as you get in touch with them.
