Hi guys,
how many of you think it would be a good idea for me to start a downing street online campaign for £200k stamp duty threshold for everyone?
Going off the average UK house price (£158k ish i think)this would help a far greater proportion of people than the currently planned First Time Buyers £250k threshold.

I think it should be on size of property not price to make it fair across the country - perhaps all one and two bed flats (which tend to be starter homes or occupied by the grey brigade) could be exempt for anyone with a residential mortgage? Up here you could practically buy a mansion for £200K!! :rotfl:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

I think that they should have changed this ages ago to be a blanket ruling rather than only for first time buyers so yes OP, I agree.
I very much doubt that no stamp duty being applicable will make much difference to FTB's in any case and certainly no difference to the housing market unless the banks start loosening up a bit with their lending criteria.:smileyhea0 -
Stamp duty for all is fairer.0

I think only above £250k for everybody would be ideal0

I believe that stamp duty should be tiered, like income tax.
It is ridiculous that £1 over the threshold results in SD on the whole amount, instead of just the part above the threshold.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0
