You might like to look at this thread on the Medion forums. The participants don't seem wildly enthusiastic.
If you actually want one, be in the queue half an hour before the store opens. They sometimes have very few available, perhaps half a dozen, and there are usually more people than that who want one, whatever it is!0 -
4Gb ram, 1000Gb HDD not bad!!! The processor is new, released this year. It's an entry level speed processor which would be sufficient for the usual surfing, editing photos, casual gaming, usual Word processing etc.
It's by no means a super speedy computer but fine for general use! This processor is used in laptops/notebooks a lot.
Still £600 is a lot to spend on a computer (In my opinion)
Aldi's deals are normally pretty good though!0 -

Without looking at the configuration, these ALDI and LIDL PCs are usually good value for the specs. At least it has been in the past.
But the specs are in most cases to good for what the average person needs. It all depends on what you want to use it for. If you just want to use Internet, email, documents and so on the £600 would be too much.
Reading the first lines of the specs, who needs really a touch screen on their PC? If you're using it as a TV, then you sit too far away from it. If you're using it as a PC then you sit too close to it.
Don't get me wrong, I own a touch screen mobile phone and a touch screen might also make sense for presentations or so. But I can't see the use at home. You will use it the first few days and then you will realize that you're better off with keyboard/mouse or the remote control.
Edit: It also doesn't say whether the TV card is HD or not.
just my £0.020 -
Thanks everyone, I did wonder whether I would get on with a touch screen, never heard of them before seeing this advert.
My current PC is an Aldi Medion from a couple of years ago and it's so slow now that I can make a three course meal sometimes whilst it's opening files (especially Outlook Express which keeps crashing). OK, a slight exaggeration but it is driving me mad and I wondered about replacing it. I like the streamlined bit of having it as an all in one, bit like my daughter's Mac that she raves about.

I am in my umpteenth year with my Medion. Have put in more RAM and stand alone graphics card (for larger monitor), it now has two internal HDDs and two external (for all my photos).
Every so often I give it a good clean out - physically and metaphorically. WHEN I need a new machine would certainly consider Medion again.0 -
Check out the Argus catalogue, there are two Medion PC's in there I am typing on one now prices seem very competitive to what you say.0

BTDT etc. Compact your mailbox files (the Help will tell you where that is, probably somewhere under Tools), then install Thunderbird and tell it to import OE mailbox and windows address book (WAB).A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Thanks Owain. With OE I have separate identites, can I do that in Thunderbird? I never swapped to Outlook as I couldn't do it in that.

NVIDIA® GeForce® 9100 MG DirectX® 10 graphics.
It may be a Q1 this year released processor but on performance benchmarks its well behind running not much better than the T7400 I picked up in 2006/2007, the new i3 - i5 processors are a good 100% / twice as powerful as it.
The 9100 MG graphics appears to be an onboard 'shared' graphics chipset not separate card too, i'm highly un-enthused by this one you'd easily get a more powerful 'conventional' desktop (or even laptop) for the money, behing an odd 'built into the display' type it'll probably be a nightmare to upgrade in any way (if possible at all)
Seems built around its touch screen gimmick and putting a hefty premium on it to boot.0 -
got to agree with jasx here for that sort of money the graphics are the biggest let down.
