By Train or by Car to London?

  • Unless you enjoy horrendous traffic which apart from the costs and accident risk puts much wear and tear on your car, no contest take the train...have you checked coach services too in case it's more convenient and possibly cheaper too.

I have never been on a train before:beer:
but If I wanna get from Basingstoke to London, should I buy the ticket at the station or online?

Which is the best website to go on to book it if online option is cheaper ?

At the station. You can't buy a season ticket online AFAIK. Once you have it you can renew it online.

For Basingstoke there are no financial advantages to buying any ticket (to London) online.

    Is this common?!!?!?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I'd imagine it's exceedingly common these days. Maybe never been on a bus either other than on a school outing.

An Anytime Day Return to Waterloo via Woking is £31.60.
It is the same price whether bought online or at the station on the day of travel.
So no point in buying in advance.

If you're going to be doing this journey for 3 months, why are you talking about buying a ticket every day? A quarterly season ticket will cost you around a grand (depending on the route and terminus used) and you can use it to go into town at the weekend as well.

nah i was just using the everyday ticket as an example, originally thought if I get the ticket online in advance would be cheaper than on the day

    It isn't about £35

It's £31.60 whether bought in advance or on the day.

Unless you buy it from the trainline, who charge you fees - if you do that it will cost MORE in advance. Is that where you got it from?
