Do I need a mac code if I cancel

I just ordered internet service and according to my provider, I have 30 days to cancel. Do I need a mac code to switch to another service, or can I just sign up with anyone once my service is canceled?

Yes,the process of configuring your internet has probably been started so you'll need a Mac to authorise the move.0

"If ***** is unable to provide you with a MAC for one of the reasons above then you can still cease your account with us and move to an alternative ISP although this will necessitate a break in your service.
It is also possible that your new provider may not require your MAC. This would be if they will be providing your broadband connection using a line not provided by BT Wholesale."0
