I really didn't know where to post this, so I apologise now.
I've had a feeling that my mum has been in debt for a while, seeing letters around the house and clubmen/clubwomen coming for money.
A couple of times I've had to help her out & have once signed a agreement with a clubman for £100 to help pay for my 18th birthday party (Yes I was very stupid) which my mum said she would pay off, as it was for my birthday. This was 2 years ago, my dad knew nothing of it till a couple of months ago, he found a letter and asked her about it, she became all defensive about it. I eventually told my dad that I had on occasions helped her out.
Then last night me & my boyfriend found a statement with money oweing on it, it didn't have a company name or anything, my name was on there twice, one of them looked like the £100 from 2 years ago & one was for £300 which I know nothing about. I confronted my mum about this but she said they must have made a mistake about the £300 one and that she still owed the £100.
To me & my boyfriend it looks like she;s used my name to get another loan out with this company what are my rights on this??
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to MSE, don't apolgise - you are on the right board!
Because the money wasn't repaid immediately, I imagine the company have charged additional interest over 2 years. Do you have a copy of the credit agreement you would of signed?Best Regards

I'm going to sound really stupid & say no as I trusted my mum enough to sort it, yes I know a very silly mistake now!0

Ok, I would do a SAR to get a copy of the credit agreement. A SAR will try and get a copy of the agreement, and may give us a starting point re interest etc.
Here is a link for you to look at;

I don't know who the loans are with and my mum doesn't tell me, where would I start?0

Send it to the company with the letterhead you mentioned. They will then have to obtain it from the lender for you and give you any information about the agreement.

There was no company letterhead on it, it was just a statement saying what was owed, by me & my mum.0

Does the staement not have a company name? If not I would wait until they enter into correspondence with you and then do a SAR.
Alternatively you could check your credit file, as the company may be on there.Best Regards

No it just has our names then the balances next to them & then whats been paid and whats remaining.
I've checked my credit file on credit expert & everythings satisfactory, no loan companys on it except my car finance. And I don't know where the loan for £300 has come from on the statement, it's the first I'd heard of it yesterday.0 -
OK, I woul wait until you hear something from the company. If they haven't done so already, you are likely to recieve letters demanding repayment. At that point, I would do exactly aforementioned.Best Regards
