When did you start giving your baby Orange Juice?

DD only had milk and water till she was about 3.
She has no fillings.
She loved her water, especially when it was nice and cold straight form the fridge.
These days she's 11 and prefers a nice big drink of milk, or on high days and holidays she gets to have fizzy juice.
Orange juice is not something to get her into the habit of, have you though about giving her bits of real orange instead? It's got a bit more for her to chew on and is a new texture to get her used to also?Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Breastmilk is OK in large quantities as it changes over the course of a feed, but my understanding is that formula, because it is the same all the time, shouldn;t be given quite so freely.
No idea what to suggest about the water, my DD is 10 months and happily drinks cold water from her sippy cup so it's not something I've had to face.
OP does not have to WORRY about her baby becoming fat because she is on formula!!!!!! I am pretty sure that no-one should be worrying about a young baby becoming fat and witholding milk from them, unless there is a medical reason for it and baby doesn't know when they are full.0 -
I wouldn't worry too much about giving watered down juice. i'd only say to try and stay away from anything thats sugar free. I don't like the idea of my daughter having artificial sweeteners, as long as you brush their teeth sugar won't do any harm.0

It's not just the natural sugar in orange juice you need to be mindful of, no matter how much you water it down, it's still acidic.
My dd didn't have juice till she was about 3, only milk and water, but this was more to do with her not wanting to drink out of anything but a bottle, so milk or water it was. She'll still go for a drink of tap water (Scottish, so it's yumm!) before she'll go looking for juice, she's almost 13 now0 -

I think I was just quoting the wording of the other poster, and of course I don't mean specifically the Op should worry (obviously), but that there are differences between formula and breastmilk, and there is a link between formula and obesity later in life, so I don;t think you are supposed to just give them as much formula as they want past a certain age, that's what my formula-using friends say anyway. OP should check with her HV, but then she should ask the HV this juice question as well I'd imagine. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

FF babies DO require another fluid, as unlike BF it's purely food rather than the mixture that breast milk is.
However I am suprised that people are worrying about babies getting fat on FF or indeed getting fat at all! As for giving them as much formula as they want I guess it depends on how weaning is going and how much they are eating at meal times.
Personally I'd stick with the water, it might take a while to sink in but I think baby will get the message.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

One of mine would not drink water and they were tiny during severe heat and although breastfed they simply needed more fluid as it was a heatwave. They could not understand sippy cups or bottles yet either.
They went through cucumber batons whilst out and about and at home I'd make mini lollies by squeezing oranges and making a dilute. I put weaning spoons in an ice cube tray and froze. The spoons often froze at funny angles but it did the job and the first reactions were fun!
I used to pop into few supermarkets whilst out as I used to get odd looks buying so many cucumbers.0
