Carrots - what did I do wrong?

Quite possibly nothing, don't be hasty. i planted mine about 2 1/2 weeks ago and they are still to show. Likewise with all my turnips, parsnips etc.0

I've had the same trouble this year with the carrots, last year no trouble at all. I think I planted mine too soon and it wasn't warm enough for them to germinate or I may have sown them too deeply. Planted a second lot and they are just starting to pop up now. I would just sow more seeds as normal, should be okay now the weather is warming up.0

they may well soon raise there heads but sow another row anyway if you have space to give a later c rop ( thats if the first ones show ) make sure you dont plant / sow em too deep too0

Carrots do seem to take a while to germinate, also they dont like being disturbed so dont replant any0

yes it was probably quite chilly for a while after you planted them; bet they will poke their heads through soon with all the warm weather forecast. mine took a while to show; they aren't the fastest growing veg, I find.0

Mine took three weeks to germinate, so maybe give thema little longer.
I moved the tub which my carrotts were in at the weekend (due to a house move), and all the soil cracked. Do you think they'll survive, or should I re sow??0 -
Mine are just starting to come through now that the weather his picked up.From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!0

Our carrots are just starting to peek through, as of yesterday, and we sowed them just under two weeks ago, but they've been kept very moist and are in a very warm, sunny spot, so yours will most probably be getting ready to put in an appearance of their own. It wouldn't hurt though, if you're able, to sow another couple of rows somewhere..."Your life is what your thoughts make it"

I planted carrots too, in March ,it was cold then, they haven't appeared , so planted some more about two weeks ago and they are appearing at last !
Peas are doing well ,but french beans are struggling. We are in the High Peak in Derbyshire and it has been cold!! This weekend should work miracles if weather is as hot as forcast!!!0 -
yes it's going to be a good weekend for growing! Couldn't believe the difference in just the past 2 days to my garden, especially the salad things and potatoes, they are going absolutely mental. Have even managed to have the tomatoes outside at long last; my thermometer says min temp last night was 12C!0
