I don't know anything at all about Botox, but I would imagine that at some point you're going to get a client who thinks you can make her look 17 again - and she's going to be disappointed.

My guess is that your insurance company is just being cautious regarding the letter wording. Some people's instinct when dealing with a miserable customer can be to say something like "oh, I'm so sorry, I can't imagine how that could have happened, let me fix that for you". If your customer is a professional complainant - they do exist! - then the 'I don't know how that happened' can easily get twisted into 'the nurse admitted that she had no idea how to administer the injections'.

From the insurance company's perspective, you might be great at dealing with Botox but bad at dealing with professional complainants. I suspect that they just want to make sure that you don't make life difficult for yourselves by allowing her to manipulate you into saying/doing something you shouldn't.

(And as somebody who knows nothing about Botox - surely if your wife had only stuck injections in one side, the woman would have noticed at the time? Surely you can tell whether you're being injected with something or not - or is your wife just that skilled :) ).

    What about something like this:

    Dear Mrs Troutface,
Further to your recent correspondance after we had atempted to fix your somewhat battered old mug, I would like to point out the following to you:

When speaking to the OWNER of a business, and asking to speak to their supervisor, you make yourself appear as thick as you really are. In order to avoid any confusion on this matter, please find enclosed two short planks of wood. This is how thick you are. There is nobody "above" the owner, nobody supervises them, apart from of course God perhaps, however with a bit of luck, you might get to meet him soon as well.

I have also enclosed a copy of the terms of engagement that you signed prior to having the work done. All the risks were explained to you at the time, and you accepted these risks (by signing the form, that's what it means when you do that). The fact that all your "friends" have noticed that you now look like you've been hit in the face with a shovel is, whilst unfortunate, one of the possible side effects of having this treatment. I'm sure in time you'll be able to see the funny side of this, perhaps you could get them to take some photographs in order to remind you how you look? Whilst they're at it, we would also advise you to ask them to take a photo of your elbow and your rear end (you may need a panoramic camera for this though), as it appears at the moment you don't know one from the other.

In order to try and remedy this situation, and having asked you seventeen times to come back in for your follow up treatment, each time resulting in you refusing to come, we have now arranged, at no extra cost to you of course, for the only realistic course of action that is required to avoid any further embarresment to yourself. Your complimentary balaclava should arrive in the post in the next few days. It is vital that you wear this protective piece of equipment at all times for the next 28 days. After the 28 days have passed, the treatment should have had the desired effect and I'm sure that nobody will laugh at the state of your face again (actually, they probably will, but hey ho).

We do try to please all our customers, and in general we find we succeed most of the time, but there is only so much one can do when these circumstances arise. The phrase "you can't polish a turd" springs to mind, as we are not miracle workers (please refer back to God for that particular course of treatment).

As a sign of our goodwill, we are willing to stick some more needles into your head, however due to the treat of legal action from yourself, we will only be able to administer the goodwill injections from a distance of approximately ten yards, and by using one of our more high powered tools, more commonly known as a ".22 rifle".

I trust this will be to your satisfaction, however if it is not, I really couldn't give a tiny rats a$$, as I have absolutely no desire to take any more money from you anyway. Finally, please feel free to use this letter as toilet roll, however should you choose not to take on board our advise (as you tend not to) I have saved a copy for myself in order to shove up your hole the next time I see you.

    Kindest regards
    The Supervisor.

I am sure someone with more experience will post shortly, but my first advice is to open a "complaint" file and record EVERYTHING.
Every call with details time and date, every text etc.

I think a letter may well be the way forward, again keep a copy in the file, detailing as you said, the terms and conditions that she signed, the offer of follow up etc.

Good luck, unfortunately it is the first and is unlikely to be the last, but don't get scared off. As you say it isn't an exact science, and provided the right qualifications etc are there, I dont see that you have anything to worry about, but as I say someone with more experience in this sort of thing will post soon.

    Jex

Agreed, but please send it by trackable means so you can prove she got it (hopefully you won't need to).

    Good luck.

    Linda
