Good luck OP! It will all go fab and your fears will come to nothing im sure, lime others have said keeps numbers down and have some champagne to steady the nerves.

I am however indeed a massive show off and cant wait to get all the attention.

    Hi,

I am a groom who is very shy and the thought of the 40 odd guests we have coming sort of freaks me out, my oh though is a chatterbox and some people are surprised we found each other.....but we fit.

I have a small family of 10 while the rest of the guest are my oh family a lot I dont know, from what I believe you sort of have to mingle to chat to people and this is not one of my strong points either, neither is the speech and I am dreading the attention of the first dance......

solution is to have a small drink before church just to keep me relaxed, I sort of feel sorry for the brides as most of the attention is on them, i think that once the ceremony is over you sort of relax and just focus on what is in front of you, from what I have learnt from speaking to people is that guests are there to celebrate with you not judge you......who isn't nervous on the biggest day of their lives

    good luck :)

I'm so glad I've found this post. I get terrible in crowds of people, just like I'm claustrophobic. You hear all these stories about the 'big wedding' with millions of people and being the center of attention, and all I want to do is be married to my OH, and he hates people more than I do, so I thought there was no hope. It doesn't help that I'm 28 and never been to a wedding, so had been a bit clueless until recently.

We've not set a date yet as we're saving some pennies before committing to organising a venue etc, I'd rather have the money there, and start provisionally booking things, then becoming stressed with the thought I've got to make sure I have enough for X,Y and Z.

I was actually thinking of getting a magician to come along, which may take the pressure off a bit, especially with family members that haven't met each other often / at all, but I've not looked into the cost of that, so may scrap the idea.

Rescue remedy and a big glass of champers will be my friend on the day, have NO idea how I am going to cope with having my photo taken, I hate it!!
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:
  • OMG I am so glad that it is not just me feeling this way! I have never wanted to get married for this reason. But I found a man who changed my life and my mind on this. I am more than happy for us just to run away and get married but he wont. He says that as this will be my 1st and only wedding he wants it to be special for me! he has been married before and has 2 grown up children. We are planning a very small wedding if we ever find a venue! I am already having nightmares about it :rotfl:
