Shy and don't like to be the centre of attention

i'm gonna be a nervous wreck on the day and i hate crowds and the centre of attention thing so i'm planning on keeping a hip flask of JD on me for the day and a 30cl bottle in my room for getting ready, its one of the pics the misses wants of me, swigging from the bottle lol0

I was thinking about visualization and repeating positive things i am sure i read something about that somewhere. Perhaps imagining people naked will help lol.
Manda does your throat close up when your nervous i intend having a bottle of cold water to hand.
I will probably zone out and forget everyone else is there about from h2b and me
. I really want to get married so mind over matter. Imagine the worst case scenario then its got to be better. Well it worked for childbirth that was easier than i imagined and less embarrassing.
Ive just had my makeup tiral and the beutician(sp?) doing it said when she got married she was terrible, she said that she just stared at the brick wall just past her husband and spoke to that instead, lol, sounds a good idea too.
My throat doesnt really close up, my main problem is going red and feeling stupid with people looking at me its twice as bad, I was thinking a cherry brandy to hand rather than water tho, lol. Agree with you its mind over matter though, so hopefully can get phsyc'd up enough. I only have a week to go now though! :eek:0 -
i hate people, no really, its not a personal thing, just all people they scare me to death. i dont leave the office at work and sit at my desk all day so not to have to see anyone, even my boss has made my job so i dont have to see any one or answer the phone even though im a PA haha
its a good job my dad is walking me down the aisle as he will have to make me walk slow or i will have my head down and runnign to the front. im very scared, we have 108 guests! but it will be ok. i have this thing when im nervious i smile , alot, so at least the pictures will look good lol
Thank you to all posters0 -
I'm not feeling too worried about the whole standing up in front of people thing but I'm conscious that when I do get a little nervous and lots of people are looking at me I tend to speak too fast so my words endupsoundinglikethisandyoucan'tunderstandwhatI'msaying! I'll have to remember to speak clearly and slowly, or OH will kick me!
I'm also scared about tripping over my train!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I am actually dreading it and we've only just started to plan. Public speaking leaves me red faced, I stammer and feel faint. Sadly I'm also known for my clumsiness.
Eek!
I have a huuuuge family so I'm only inviting parents, grandparents, siblings and my niece and nephews. OH has a tiny family but even then there will be around 50! I break into a cold sweat just thinking about it. Don't even get me started on photos and dancing _pale_ I pull the stupidest faces in photos, like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHQ5ZQY98X0&feature=related
Remind me why I'm doing this! 0 -
Hurrah, I'm so glad someone else has mentioned this, I thought we were the only ones - me and my other half are just the same. I love him to pieces and want to be married, just the thought of getting married in front of 28 people (all family and my best mate) is scaring me already and we havent even booked the venue yet!0

many moons ago when I married the ex I was a really shy person, I was really worried about the wedding day, all those people looking at me, I used to go red just asking for my lunchtime sarnie! I had a major panic attack when I realised that the church bells I could hear at my mums just before we got in the car were ringing for my wedding and all those people were there:eek: It took my dad and uncle ages to convice me to get in the car, it got so bad my dad thought I had changed my mind and was running through what he would say when he turned up at the church by himself :rotfl:
BUT once I walked in, it was like another person took over and I just sort of glided through it in a haze, was amazed at the photos after, to see that person laughing etc. (and I did get a shock too - the ex had always had a beard, he turned round to greet me and he had shaved it off!)
Although I have to say IF and WHEN me and OH get married it will be just me and him and witnesses hoiked off the street lol.whoever said laughter was the best medicine has clearly never tasted wine

There are some self calming techniques on that site. I was told deep breathing and to remember if you can appear calm then no one else will know if you're bricking it!
I found the bach stuff was good, you can either have it straight or diluted and sip the water throughout the day and warm water rather than iced water is better if you're throat closes up0
