hi, my dad who is elderly and dissabled had a mobilty scooter saleman round today, he brought with him a mobility scooter worth £2,000. my dad liked the scooter as it was a good solid scooter and paid £2,000 cash for it, but he is now having second thoughts as it has left his bank account quite low, he said the salesman was quite pushy with the sale and he took my dad to the bank to withdraw the funds, i would like to know if he can get a full refund if he ruturns it, i'm not sure if a cash deal is different to a credit agreement as i know you have a cooling off period with credit.
many thanks

As far as I know you have 7 days cooling off when buying anything at home. This was introduced to curb the 'pushy salesman' syndrome.0

I'd also ring consumer direct for advice too because actually taking your dad to the bank to withdraw funds is very pushy indeed.0

Under the Cancellation of Contracts made in a Consumer's Home or Place of Work, etc Regulations 2008 your father has 7 days to cancel the contract and receive a full refund.
Put the cancellation in writing and send it recorded delivery.0 -
was the salesman invited ie an appointment made or was it cold calling ?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

The alarm bells went off in my head when I read '....the salesman was quite pushy with the sale and he took my dad to the bank to withdraw the funds'"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Was your dad provided with any paperwork or receipts? By law, the seller must inform the customer in writing of the 7 day cooling off period, so if he didn't then I'd be inclined to contact Trading Standards and report the company.
