Brittania Hotels do those wedding packages for up to 100 guests and have quite a few in your area, they have a weding fayre next week.
The Willows inMachester has a £100 package, don't know the place, but if you're near it might be worth a look? (includes the ceremony!)
The only info I could find on the Holiday Inn ones is the Chester South Holiday Inn here
There is another chain doing these - someone posted it not long ago but I can't remember it for the life of me, will keep looking. Found it!! Here - I don't know if any of them are near enough to you, thoughIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window

Thanks for all the replies!!!
The ceremony will be late in the day, I'm NOT a morning person lol.
The church that quoted £800 was for the ceremony, banns, licence, certificate, wold have been an extra £100 for a choir or bell ringers, taking the total to £100o for the works! It was in a very rich area though.
I've just found a small hotel that does the meal etc and you'd have the hotel to yourself, looks gorgeous, I'm having a look tomorrow as I'm over that way for a meal at night. No charge for room hire but that's on the provision I have an evening buffet too
Bubbles, the working mens clubs here seem to hold upwards of 100, we'd look lost in it! I will keep looking though
I have my centre pieces, sort of, I know what I want, I think. It's still going to be a chocolate and champagne theme but the flowers are a burgandy colour to break it up a bit0 -

These are crazy prices for the church. When my husband was the minister at our church, lay preacher, he did 20 weddings during 7 years and he didn't charge a penny. Obviously these were members of our congregation but none the less £800 is really wrong for something that is supposed to be a Holy ordinance.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

I've not decided on bouquets and things yet but the centre pieces are pretty sorted, I'm layering fake roses with glass beads in champagne glasses, I think, it's still a work in progress. I have already got the roses though
Good thinking of the dj, I seriously want this soul band that we know but OH thinks it will cost more as we're not getting married near to where they are based, he has itunes on the comp and we have the leads to hook it to a sound system, that's a great suggestion, thanks.
I seriously didn't realise that church prices varied, to nothing and donations, I didn't think that the £800 was that much when I'd had prices from the local hotels!0 -
Does anyone think giving OH a spend diary to be in charge of would help with us saving? He goes out more than me and tends to spend without thinking so if he had to track everything then he'd see where we spend unnecessarily0

yes thats a really good idea
just be careful how you broach it
im the spender in our relationship but if h2b tried to give me a spending book i wouldnt like it, if i gave myself one itd be a great idea(i know very childish hay?) lol
maybe do one each and say
'right we need to sort our budget so lets see what we spend over a month then we can see where we can cut back to save for our big day'
or were you inputting your spends too?I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p0 -
It would be for both of our spendings, I asked him last night when he was doing the income/outgoings for work, he's going to do a spreadsheet for us. We have very few bills so any money we don't have means we have frittered.
I have set up another regular saver with barclays as it has a good interest rate and moved the money from last years saver to their ISA as that has a good rate too. Signing up for the free scratchcards later on too. I think I need to save about £600 a month to give me the 5k :eek:0
