usa sim
Hi,i am not a techy person and have been told we need a usa sim card to make calls in the usa
We are going to florida in the near future and thought it would be handy to call each other on our mobiles and maybe usa numbers, not to the uk
All the info seems to be for calling the uk from abroad
we have asda simcards fitted and i know the phones are unlocked and tri/quad band
Do i purchace a usa sim here or in the usa?
Is it worth the trouble?
And if i do how do i purchace time?
If anyone does this i would love a little guidance
Cheers

You get them in the US (you might be able to get them from Ebay and sent over here, but there's no point, I doubt they'll work?).
Yes, its worth the trouble (no that there is much). It'll be ALOT cheaper to call with a local pair of sims.
You can pick them up from most drug stores (CVS or Walgraves) where you can top them up too.
Have a great time over there !
Edit: maker sure you're phones are at least tri band to work in the US.0 -

2 of these might suit you better - we have used them the last couple of years.0 -
You don't need a USA sim card, your phone will work on AT&T or T-Mobile US, both are GSM 1900 networks0

Your phones will certainly work, but it will be very expensive. Like others said, get USA sim cards at the drug stores, walmart, target, etc. and even on ebay. It will save you a bundle! Do not buy AT&T unless your phone has the 850 band. It may just be better to buy a phone/sim package for about $30 or so.0

If you go to an AT&T store, you can pick up a cheap Pay As You Go phone for $30 (about £20), comes with $10 credit on it, then you pay 20c a minute and 20c a text to or from other US numbers.0

a couple of months ago, i looked at 2 options, o2 wireless simcard, which i purchased on ebay for a fiver inc p&p - can only be used with certain mobiles. that seems to have cheapest texts and calls to uk. i topped up with $49.99 and received unlimited texts and unlimited calls to the UK. there are about 50 countries included that you can text and call for free. my dad had to pay to receive the calls but i got him an orange sim card and he paid about 6p a minute for calling and receiving, and 20p a text.
or net10 mobile but i dont think you can text to the uk on that, but the calls are cheap, running at 5c a minute.
