Okay she's ready to buy the HTC Desire either today or tomorrow.

Is this the best place to get it on O2? http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/buy/HTC-DESIRE-O2PYG-WEB10

I looked on the official O2 site and it doesn't have the Desire on PAYG, let alone "FREE Unlimited web at all price points" so no idea what tariff she will be on, which is her main concern (with regards to cost of web access, not the cost of texts/calls etc which I see explained already)

She doesn't want any contract at all, just a basic top up of x amount per month with free/cheap web access and texts - will she get that simply by topping up say £10 per month?

Is the carphonewarehouse phone automatically coming on the O2 Text & Web tariff? http://freesim.o2.co.uk/D2FCkNdd

Sorry for all the Q's, i'm a novice when it comes to phones and so is the person who has asked me to research for her!

Yes will come with the o2 sim - all she has to do is top up at least £10 per month and she will get unlimited internet free

She could also look at getting an O2 simplicity sim (which is sim only pay monthly) She should be able to get this even with a poor credit history - you can get a good amount of free calls / text / internet for £15 per month also there is quidco available. Obviously she would still need to buy the phone on payg then just put the o2 simplicity sim in - This would be a good way of building up a credit history with o2 too. In a years time she would be able to get a contract mobile phone with them no problems.

    Excellent. Thank You.

Good point about the credit building. I'm not sure how much she'll use it for calls, but it may be a good thing with a contract in the future.

Some other things - insurance and keeping the same number?

With insurance, carphone warehouse offer geeksquad insurance - worth it? Or can insurance be taken out elsewhere?

How would she keep the same phone number as her current phone?

She'll buy a case for it somewhere. Any other accessories?

    Thanks for the help

I'll pass the info on. cheers.

The difference of 150,00 apps is quite alot - even then the HTC Desire is a better choice?

Finally, where is the best (most reliable) place to buy this - online at somewhere like carphone warehouse or in a high street shop?

But 140,000 of those apps are duplicates of ones already out there so I wouldn't put much store in the numbers. How many different McDonald's Finder apps does the average American male need anyway? :rotfl:

That's a fair point. Most of them will be either duplicate or useless :)
