  • I advise Itunes if its simply for listening to on your pc.

The reason I suggest it, is that you can still burn them to cd but you can manage them a lot easier than other sites, as its a media program with the built in music store. Amazing program really :) Plus downloads are VERY quick etc.. good proggy all round.

  • wippit all the way, provided your tastes are not to "vertical" or obscure. Wippit costs a fraction of what iTunes would cost you.

the other thing that iTunes is good for is a preview for tracks. closest thing to try before you buy..

The prices too are still too high, considering you get no packaging, and a lower quality version (than cd). The best thing to do is still buy the cd. You can make your own rip, in whatever format you want. Plus you have a natural backup in the cd. The ripping won't take much longer than it would to download the album from iTunes too.

Perfect advice! Especially as CD's can be bought on ebay for a couple of pounds!

Remember that altough you can burn to CD with Itunes, this is NOT CD quality! You are ripping the output of a lossy format, hence converting from this to mp3 makes it even more lossy!

If you want some plastic relics of the 1980's and 90's cluttering up your house.

You can always throw the CD in the bin once you have ripped it ;)

    ***Board Guide Note***

    Apologies -

I have just deleted quite a few posts.

The discussion of certain Russian music download sites is still not permitted on MSE and all such posts are deleted.

There was an exception made for one thread started by a member of the MSE team several months ago - if you can find it and it is still open.

    Thanks
