heat is the killer so above a fireplace is not ideal
I'm surprised that the manufacturers dont put small fans in to increase airflow
Also a good ideal to check regularly that all the vent holes are clear of fluff
with a soft brush and a hoover to suck it up
Desktop PC are the same the number of them i get in with heatsinks/fans cacked in fluff and people complaining of cutting out/freezing0 -

This might be beyond your knowledge, but ill ask anyways
I deal with hifi a lot, and some hifi buffs have replaced capacitors (Particularly in speakers, but also amps etc) to get a better quality sound
Would tvs benefit from better capacitors? (as in quality, not longevity):idea:0 -
possibly if they provide a smoother more regulated supply?0

You will have hell of job getting good quality in this country, even the high end trade biggies don't stock decent caps.
Germany & America seem to be the place to buy from although I'm sure Japan and others have them.
Have a look here in the UK for audio caps.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I did the crossovers on the only other set of LEAK 20/20's I've ever seen in my life [ I still own the first set - £mucho mucho a pair I bought second hand from the BBC in early 80's ] about 15 years ago.
It's a long time go, I'm competent and have a proper solder station, things I remember are :
- cap's, any cap's need to cure, they [ the sound ] seems better after 24 / 36 hours
- quality replacements are always bigger than the originals
- leave the legs looooong, if you need to replace later you don't need a solder pump just weld to the long legs
- strange one here, you would of course use the other unmodified speaker as a base test, mod against non-mod. I swear that when the pair were both done as opposed to only one the sound was much more natural and full of ' air '
Best of luck with your mod Rik, the great thing is you can always reverse if you give birth to a duckegg ..
N.B. anyone confused by the dates / bought early 80's / mod performed 15 or 16 years agoDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Opening up a can of worms there Richie:idea:0 -
My choice is now between a plasma and an lcd, roughly the same price. The guys in the shop said they dont burn to the screen anymore, and that they had a better refresh rate which was good for me (i plan to game with it) and that their weakness was a higher power output than lcd.0

Everyone has an opinion, and they're always emotional / different / etc.
If you had asked me couple of years ago I would have said don't touch plasma, now I'd prefer a plasma everytime.
"" I plan to game with it "", now you've introduced a whole new area of additional consideration .Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion.
