Really ? but people seemed to be suggesting i go for a pansonic or sony?

That was because Comet had set them up to give a lousy picture to enable them to sell more LGs !

    I've got a Panasonic.

I have had experience of Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Phillips, Matsui and Wharfedale TVS

Wharfedale - utter garbage - the one we had the sound actually started going after less than a week! Shi7e. It got sent back. The Phillips LCD - which my Mum now has actually had a very good picture - from a distance.

We have a Samsung 32" in the bedroom now and it is a pretty good TV. It was £275 including a 5 yr warranty from Richer Sounds. PS3 and Bluray look absolutely gorgeous as it upscales to 1080p - something that wasn't even mentioned on the blurb!! Cable is also very good.

We have a 40" Sony Full HD in the lounge and it is excellent as long as you sit the right distance away. Under 2 metres and you can see the pixels which you don't notice on CRTs.

I had a Matsui 14" CRT telly for over 10 years without fault and with a very good picture. Don't know about them now.

In all honesty Panasonic TVs are the best though. Myself and my partner and family have all had Panasonics and there has never been one fault between us all!!

My dad has just bought a full HD Panny and TBH it blows our Sony out of the water. The picture is SO crisp and the blacks and lack of any blur or tracing make it a pleasure to watch.

You won't get an unbiased response to that query here - people tend to recommend Sony (or whatever) because they've always bought Sony, not because they have compared the latest Sony models with the latest from Samsung (or whoever).

Your best bet: go to Comet or a similar large store, look at what's available and see what you like. Then decide if you can afford it, go home and find the cheapest price online. FWIW, I like the picture quality of the latest Samsung LCDs, but you may not.

I won't bother responding, fwor said it for me. Pick what your own eyes prefer. Then get hundr£ds off buying elsewhere !

BTW new plasmas are not like the old carp plasmas, some cheap [er] TV's use the same panel as the expensive ones.

    All contributions and suggestions welcome.

I have a 32" LCD Panasonic which, amongst all the usual controls, has an SD card slot. I bought mine a few months ago and am extremely satisfied with it, £450(?). I view mine from about 6 to 8 feet.

If you like LCD, last years models are good value (this was an Autumn release, I think.)
If you order these instore you get a free Sony BDP-S360 Bluray player to go with it (subject to them being in stock):-

    http://www.marksandspencer.com/Sony-Bravia-KDL-40V5810U-Full-freesat/dp/B0032ACS3M?ie=UTF8&qid=1274453158&categoryNodeID=43992030&ref=sr_1_1&page=1&node=79511031&sr=1-1&mnSBrand=core&_encoding=UTF8&rh=n%3A79453031%2Cn%3A79511031

M&S Guarantee the TV for 5 years and the Bluray for 2 years. They also deliver and install for free.

I took the free Bluray back (Liverpool M&S) and cancelled my order (for one of the above) and got one of these instead:-

I liked the Plasma picture better with SD viewing. :) I paid £599 to a Panasonic Dealer for it as you get a 5 year Guarantee. Too scared to risk the 1 year Guarantee if I got it from Amazon. :( A bargain though if you are brave/lucky.
  • Im thinking, so far panasonic first choice. But whats the difference between the them? What do you guys think?

PANASONIC VIERA TXL42U2B42 inch LCD TV 1080p HD Ready Freeview (richer sounds)

Panasonic TX-P42X10B 42-inch Widescreen HD Ready Plasma TV with Freeview (amazon)

PANASONIC VIERA TXP42X1042 inch Plasma TV HD Ready Freeview (richer sounds)

Samsung LE40B550A5 40 inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p Crystal LCD TV with Freeview (amazon)

If it was me I would get a Pana or Sony. I have a 40" Sony LCD myself and it gives great picture.

Panasonic's are regarded by many as producing some of the best quality TV's as well.

Size? As many others have said it depends on the room size and how far back you will be sitting.
