jesus....you need help.
British Airways made a record loss of £401 miliion pre-tax in 2009.
2010 is going to be a bad loss as well. Though not expected to be as high as 2009's loss.
The only time that shareholders received a dividend in the past 10 years was 2008. So to whose benefit is BA being run?0 -

I've often been tempted to ram their moronic views right up theirs @rses, but then I'm not violent, so I've always held back.

I'm astonished by White Horse's comment, too. As someone whose best mate is cabin crew with British Airways - a member of crew who hasn't gone on strike and will not go on strike - it's disappointing that someone is so quickly prepared to forget the good work BA's crews usually deliver.
Additionally, it's sad that the majority of the airline's crew who don't support the strike look set to suffer further if people will withdraw their custom as a result of these strikes.
White Horse, you appear to be throwing your toys out of the pram. While I appreciate your anger (which is shared by the majority of the country) at the unions holding innocent customers to ransom, I think that taking your business elsewhere permanently is going to do nothing but punish those who really respect and value your custom.... For I suspect a lot of those who strike will move on because of one thing or another in the next year or so.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. the unions aint holding any 1 to ransom,,the unions are only acting on behalf of the workers,,if the cabin crew aint happy ,,there is nothing the union can do,but relaay the messages back and forth to the memebers of staff at BA,,and then it is up to the members if they want to continue the strike,,not the union0 -
I would suggest that if there are people who can do the job just as well but for less money, a business would be mad not to consider getting rid of their current workforce and replacing it with a more efficient one. It does not take a genius to push a trolley up an isles dishing out tea and sandwiches.
I have used both BA and Virgin and cannot understand why the BA cabin crew think they are worth more than the Virgin employees.
I cannot understand why they think they are worth more than the Ryanair or Easyjet cabin crew who certainly work hard on their flights.
I have said it before and I will reiterate it. This strike is madness. BASSA, a division of UNITE and not UNITE itself, has painted itself into a corner here and BA are on the verge of breaking the Union by the looks of things. That would be a sad day really. But BASSA have never really shown any intent here unlike the leaders of UNITE who I think have behaved with honesty and integrity (it is also obvious from some of their comments how they regard BASSA) after all their union has its reputation to protect.
The cabin crew, when you listen to them speak or read their posts on forums like the pilots forum, genuinely seem to believe that as they fly for BA they deserve more than the Ryanairs of the world. Sadly everything the union predicts will come true and sadly it will be down to the unions intransigence after all every other union working with BA has agreed new working conditions and has done so over 12 months ago."There's no such thing as Macra. I agree, I think that is an inevitable consequence and I am sure BA would welcome it partly to reduce the pension liability.
I would not take offence at The_White_Horse, he/she has some very strident views and makes them forcefully. Nothing wrong with that and you have to look at the pathetic response from keyboard warrior Torontoboy and from SteveJ, who seems to get off on snide asides, to see that it makes people feel threatened/challenged. The forum would be all the poorer without him/her. I do not generally agree with the views expressed but always enjoy reading them. This is a discussion forum, welcome all views and enjoy the debate."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

As I understand it, the union has a new rule thing (forgotten the word) that dictates that they MUST consult their members before taking action (i.e. cancelling a strike). This came about after the proposed strike in 2007 was cancelled at the last minute and the crew members were less than happy.
So regardless of what happens at ACAS today, I suspect the strike will go ahead on Monday.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Read up before commenting, lucky for Willie is runts like you that are representing the cabin crew.
Want he wanted to do was give two years of small raises (when most of BA and the real world are taking cuts), get the pursor on board to work rather than just supervise and reduce the crew compliment by 1 on some flights by natural wastage.
Basically he wanted the LHR crews to be on the same T&C as the Gatwick crew who prefer the new regime.
Now go and play in the sun you !!!!!! little moron
There is a certain irony in Torontoboy trying to rip on White Horse but displaying staggering ignorance in the same post thus being guilty of everything he/she accused White Horse of :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Walsh did indeed want to cut a deal and the fact he has done a deal with everyone else within BA.
Not all cabin crew are selfish or deluded. I found this interesting post on a separate forum. On the subject of pay, as a CSD of nearly 13 years (26yrs in BA as CC) my basic pay excluding allowances and variables is £40,174, I have a few increments before I reach the final increment of £43,283. I have been netting a pay of approximately £3,100 to £3,400 in the last 12 months.
I truly feel BA have been generous with our salaries all these years and we have to move with time. If I am honest, I can't justify what I earn anymore with the reduced product and the state our business is in. WW is not proposing a pay cut, we can keep our T's and C's, it really is not a lot to ask for.
(No, Juan O, I am not on the sherry or anything else btw)
It's good to know that we will be flying even more aircraft types during the forthcoming strike than the previous ones. I have just been given a 767 trip to a certain destination on Monday. I have once again moved my booked leave and cancelled my holiday, as I did previously to help support our operation. I am totally flexible with days off, lieu days to be sent to whatever destination whenever I am needed, to serve our customers. This strike for me, is morally wrong.
Also this is interesting (although worth noting BA contracted hours are 900 PA and Virgin 750 PA)
BRITISH AIRWAYS PLC
Pilots 108.4
Cabin crew 31.4
VIRGIN ATLANTIC AIRWAYS LTD
Pilots 89.9
Cabin crew 14.4
So BA pilots paid 20% more than Virgin, cabin crew paid 118% more.
Both from this thread.

He likes shocking people with his strong views. Best thing is just ignore him - don't feed the troll.0
