Vodafone cold call
Got a cold call from Vodafone offering me a Nokia N97 with 600 mins and unlimited texts for £21 month, 24 month contract. Got 4 months left on my o2 contract so said they wouldn't charge me until that finished. I'm tempted as it sounds good to me. Wasn't looking to change so not sure if it really is that good, any thoughts?

Yes; don't do it unless you want to end up like so many others with a contract which is a lot different to what is promised, followed by "missing" phone recordings and a stone wall of customer "service". If they won't put it in writing, tell them what to do with it. I wouldn't trust a word from this company unless I had it in writing first - they certainly encourage their sales people to offer deals with inpunity regardless of their voracity.
Why don't you spend some time reading the feedback - there's LOTS of it - rather than being blinded by an oral offer??0 -

Was it really VF or a 3rd party claiming they are VF. VF don;'t usually cold call people like this0 -

Sound advice from mobilejunkie... Vodafone are by far the worst mobile company I've had to dealt with in the 12 or so years I've had a mobile. Conflicting, misleading information from customer "services" seems to be the norm...Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0 -
Well he stated he was from Vodafone so I just presumed he was.
So if I did decide to go for it make sure that I get an email stating everything that was being offered before going ahead?
PS It was an N97 mini.0 -

They say they won't charge you until your o2 contract finishes in 4 months, so what are they going to do? Keep a phone in their warehouse especially for you to have in 4 months time or send it to you now and not charge you anything for the 4 months? They won't do either I doubt. Like others have said get any promises in writing. Some sales staff will do just about anything for commission.
I had a phone call from someone saying they were from Vodafone the other week, asking if I'd had a new free phone in the last 12 months. I said you're from Vodafone so you tell me look at your records, funnily enough she couldn't.
I personally would never buy anything from an unsolicited cold call.0 -
If its not in writing, do not agree. This applies to all telephone sales deals. Especially mobiles!Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Hes going to ring me back tomorrow to see what I want to do so will see what he says when I want it in writing.0

Out of interest if you've got 4 months of your o2 contract remaining why are you contemplating the Vodafone offer now?0

Nokia N97
It has to be the worst phone this decade. If memory serves me right, there was over 50 N97's returned from people on the Vodafone forums last year alone.
Main problem was poor reception and about a 1 in 200 chance of getting 3g. It was so slow you could have written a letter.
Another iphone killer that got swatted by the flick of a finger.
I had mine for all of 4 days before I sent the POS back.0 -

The company my hubby works for is cutting back so taking company mobile phones off their staff so we need to get him one and we were just going to get him a payg for now.
Got a Nokia 5800 at the moment and its been very good. N97 doesnt sounds so promising.0
