How will I know they are telling the truth?

Look at the fines dished out if they dont.
Are the terms and conditions the same now as they would have been in 2001?

The current versions retailed will likely be different but once taken out, the terms dont normally change without written advance notice.
Do I ring the Customer advocate office or shall I just ring a normal enquiry line and not say who I am to start off with - sorry you must think I am dim

    you could use either really.

Rang MBNA today and they said I wouldn't have received anything if I'd been sick and made a claim. The mbna advocate office said sorry ring the FOS!
    Thank you for your advice

You now go to the FOS and supply them the information and that they confirmed they would not pay out on a claim. You then sit back and wait months whilst you are in the queue....
