from tfa:
"The news will be greeted by widespread applause in the housing market – from estate agents to buyers and sellers."
I don't think buyers have much to applaud here. It just means that certain showstoppers which you would spot from the HIP can be concealed for anothe 6 to 8 weeks. And for sellers who are buying too, it is a double edged sword, in that while they might applaud not having to provide a HIP for their own property, they risk losing their own sale if they find a problem with the house they are going to buy 8 weeks after offer rather than before making an offer.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. My Solicitor has confirmed, we dont have HIP in Scotland we have 'Home Reports' two different things so we still have to pay.0

If you're selling in Scotland, then you will be completing an instruction, and a property questionnaire for a HOME REPORT, not a HIP.
The Govt is scrapping HIPs in England and Wales. The legislation for Home Reports was enacted by the Scottish Govt and will require separate legislation to be scrapped.0 -
Hi, does anyone know if these have been suspended as of today - didnt catch the news in full as was rushing to get the kids ready for school! I have a HIP planned for today at 3.30pm and paid Tues the £299 + vat over the phone. If I can cancel it, I beleive I may get my money back as not signed for in present and have a cooling off period??? I have called estate agents but they know as much as me. I just need to find out some evidence that have been suspended as from today, or are planned to be suspended??? Any info woud be appreciated - I need to get house up for sale asap but could do with saving the £299 + vat if I can... Any help please, desperate !0

This is worth looking at before you commission the HIP

I have already paid for the HIP on Tues pm and are due to visit property this afternoon - really struggling as to what to doif I call them and cancel does anyone know for definate that I will get my money refunded? Sounds like from what I can read that will be a quick decision to abolish and that may only delay my house being on the market for a week or so. I'm willing to wait for a week/2 weeks but feel sick that already paid over my money....

I suspect the person coming will be doing the EPC which you will need anyway. Sounds like the hip is in hand and too late to cancel.0
