Can I put my handbag in my hand luggage bag?

Handbags should be carried inside the handluggage bag and not make it over the weight limit.

Of course you can, and it's probably a good idea too since the less things you carry the easier it is to get through security.

Personally before I go through security I put *everything* in my hand luggage. So I literally only have the clothes I stand up in, no danger of setting off metal detectors!

I learned this the hard way after going through American airports with pockets full of stuff and having to sort through it all!

With Ryanair you MUST put your handbag in your hand luggage otherwise you have 2 pieces of hand luggage and they will charge you £30 to put 1 in the aircraft hold.

On BA you can take a handbag in addition to your normal cabin baggage allowance.

Same with easyJet; although in practice they don't check.

Unless your hand luggage is your handbag, of course! It's all I ever take.
