Hi i won and paid for a pushchair on ebay recently.
I paid straight away via Paypal and it was coming back as unclaimed, i sent the seller a screenshot of the transaction and he said his email address was wrong, .com instead of co.uk
So i cancelled the payment just now and Paypal said the money would go into my Paypal balance.
The seller has now sent a money request through Paypal.
Is it safe to pay with this now? I want to make sure i am covered with buyer protection as it's £133!!

Is it attached to the ebay sale? Does the invoice include the ebay transaction number? If it doesn't you'll have to request that they need to change their email in ebay and reinvoice you from the sale0

Ahh, no it doesn't look like it's attached.
Thanks i'll tell him0 -
Argh, i cancelled the payment to the incorrect email address, and now the funds are being held and Paypal says i will get them back in 5-7 days. Why is that???!
So the seller is now expecting me to pay him again and i don't have the funds til Paypal give me it back :mad:0 -
This has happened to me before and this is why:
When you pay the money goes straight into the sellers account but takes 5-7 days to clear from your bank account. So if that money is refunded back into your paypal straight away then it is still clearing from your bank account.
Hope this makes sense! My daughters are my world0 -
Thanks, it does make sense... So is that money definitely going into my paypal account?
So if i was to pay again, and leave myself skint!! i'd have to wait 5 days for it to go into Paypal, and then another 5 days to go back into my account? :eek:0 -
Yes it will definately clear. The same thing happened to me but different circumstances, I paid for something and the seller refunded me some of the payment as I had overpaid postage, I then had to wait for that amount to clear.
You can either pay again or wait for it to clear.
ETA: I think it only takes 3 days for money to clear that has been withdrawn from your PP account into your bank account. It's a lot quicker than it used to be.My daughters are my world0 -
Thank you, have emailed to say i can't pay til Paypal release the money. I don't want to risk my first payment not being back in my account by the 1st for Direct debits.
What a flipping pain in the bum, i want my pushchair:mad:

The guy said he'd sorted his ebay and paypal details and that i could pay.
So i sold my original pushchair so i could make a 2nd payment sooner (without leaving myself too short).
Anyway i've paid again and it's yet again gone to the .co.uk address
So i've cancelled the payment and now Paypal are holding 2 lots of this payment...
He sent me this:
"I do not know why it is going through to this .co.uk address as I never entered this address on the ebay site, and when I go to my account details it says my paypal is linked to the .com address. I even tried to link my paypal to Ebay again and visa versus."
Is he having me on or what? Why would it change the email address?!0 -
He's having you on, ebay do not randomly go about changing addresses, they take the one the seller puts on their listing.
Unfortunately i know this first hand as I've just done the same on two of my listings. I am switching between 2 paypal accounts and made a silly typing error when I listed two auctions, instead of putting say 'soolin@hotmail.com' I typed sooolin@hotmail.com.
I didn't notice until i got two payments showing as unclaimed. I had to get the buyers to recall their payments and then issue a new invoice direct from paypal . If i had allowed them to just repay on ebay the same thing would have happened.
One buyer said they wanted to see their payment back first, which is completely understandable but i sent their item regardless.
It sounds like your seller doesn't understand that once the paypal details are entered wrongly on ebay they cannot be changed for that sale and he needs to raise a seperate invoice for you.
EDIT: The only time you can change the paypal address on an invoice is if you are doing a combined invoice as the address can be manually entered.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks Soolin i emailed the seller saying what you said, and asked him to send a new invoice but he isn't replying now...
I've just gone on eBay's Live Help thing and the guy there told me that if the seller creates a manual or revised invoice it won't be covered under Paypal protection.
They said i have to email the seller and ask him to cancel the transaction... (what if he doesn't) and for the seller to relist the item as a BIN.... and then for me to buy it.... (and what if someone beats me to it..?!! Duh)
This all seems so ridiculous. And now the seller is ignoring me, but i could get an Unpaid item strike for this :mad:0
