Been given an old xbox. One of the games not working.

I have been given an old xbox (one of the first coming out) by a friend.
He gave me 4 games with it, 3 works but the fourth didn't, when inserting the disc, it ended up showing no disk on the screen, I could not load it.
Thinking the game was faulty, I have bought the same game second hand, and this one didn't work neither, even after giving it a good clean.
Why wouldn't that particular game work on my xBox?
Both disks have a few scratches, but no more than the other games, therefore I conclude that they both worked on other xBoxes but not on mine. Why would that be?

Compatibility maybe, the game is too new for the xbox model you have

I don't have an Xbox 360, I have an original Xbox and the game is on the list where your link lead, it is a game made for the original Xbox. It should work, but it doesn't.0

Hello,
Came across your post and thought you might find this interesting. Unfortunately I cannot help with the Xbox not reading the disc. However, you can turn your Xbox into a cracking media center. Google search softmod Xbox and follow the instructions from instructables or softmodxbox (I cannot put links as I'm a new user, since 2008!).
What I would say as well is if you're a complete novice in all things technical this may not be for you. However if you are patient and able to follow instructions, give this a go. Please note you will invalidate any warranty by opening the Xbox up.0 -
