ooh we are going for a weekend at the end of August - not drinkers but were looking at this - http://www.pragueonsegway.com/
we are staying at the Intercontinental (on points) which I think is quite central0 -
I love Prague... been there twice. I still can't believe we spent a full day at the zoo!
I still like to warn people about having their Metro/Tram/Bus tickets validated or they will get an on-the-spot fine.DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

Your Hotel is in a great position, minuites from the old town ,as for the segway we didnt go on them but saw plenty of people using them on tours and they looked fun.
A couple of must sees are the Castle, the eiffel tower at Petrin park with a funnicular Railway getting you up the hill,
The old town and try a walking tour(we went on a free-Tips only tour with a student for 2 hours -well worth a fiver ).Prague is a big place but for £3 a day you can have unlimited use of the buses, Trams and underground Metro(and the funnicular Railway) and its so easy to use.
ive heard it gets hot in summer and there are lots of lovely parks etc

My OH and I are going in a few weeks for a long weekend. We are staying at The Jury's Inn (I think it's near Wenceslas Square).
How did you get from the airport to your hotel? Did you just use public transport? I've heard that the taxis can be a major rip off so I'm definitely trying to avoid that option...
The segway tours look brilliant!

I loved Prague when we went. The only transport we used was the funicular railway up the hill when we did the castle. Otherwise we walked everywhere - helped that we stayed no more than 5 mins walk from the Old Town, round by the big theatre place. From Wenceslas area it's a nice walk round to the Old Town - we did that (in the opposite direction) and combined it with a walk down to the river and also the Jewish quarter. Walking also gave us the perfect opportunity to stop every so often for a cooling drink

It can get really hot - we went in May and it was in the 30s every day.
Photo opportunity tip...in the Old Town area there is a hotel right opposite the famous clock - the Hotel U Prince. If you go inside and towards the back there is a glass lift - don't worry if it feels you're going where you shouldn't, it's fine! Take the lift and you go up past some wonderfully old fashioned areas and then get to a rooftop restaurant/bar. On there you get a brilliant view out across the Town Square. We had a drink up there but nobody was bothered if we hadn't. We went up mid morning and had it almost to ourselves0 -
Hiya,
We used these
http://www.prague-airport-transfers.co.uk/transport-pricing.htm
8 of us in a mini bus for £27(Prebooked) although i believe they also arranged shared transfers to your hotel
They were fantastic, waiting for us at the airport, strait to our hotel with a lot of local info on the way.
you can use public transport but you would probrably need the Airport bus then a metro then possibly a tram, to be quite honest its never worth the hastle for what you'd save
Have a great trip

Me and my husband got the bus from the airport and then the Metro... it is very easy. I wish I could remember how much it was but I think it worked out about £2 or £3. When you buy the bus ticket from the desk at the airport it is also valid for the Metro but it is only valid for (I think) 75 minutes. It is long enough to get from the airport but you need to keep the validity time in mind.
We found it cheaper to buy bottles of water from the Relay shops down on the Metro stations - unless you go to the giant Tesco (there is a free bus from various areas). Have a good holiday!

OK... just checked the above websites and the 75 minute ticket costs 26 KC and, with the exchange rate according to Post Office Exchange there is 27.27 KC to £1 so it would cost about a pound to get from the airport to central Praha.
Gosh, I don't remember it being so cheap but it must have been!DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

Tickets for the transport system( Tram, Metro, Bus) but not the airport bus, cost as follows.
4 stops - 18kr
75 mins - 26kr
24 Hrs - 100 kr
3 Days - 330kr
You can use them as much as you like in the timed periods but you must validate them by stamping the ticket the first time you use them( every bus /tram/metro has a stamping machine)

The tickets did include the airport bus last year... we actually bought the ticket from the little 'travel' shop at the airport. Have you found information somewhere where it says it's not valid?
Just remembered... the 3 day pass is only worth buying if you have children with you as they go free... otherwise buy the 24hr or 5 day pass as they both equal the same.DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

Found this on one of the links I posted above...Unfortunately there is no subway or train connection to the city. You should buy a ticket before travelling. You can do this in the arrival hall, at ticket machines, or at a newsagent (if arriving late and all shops are closed buy a ticket from the driver but note that large banknotes are not accepted).Tickets cost just 26 CZK (90p). If you take the No.119 bus (intervals of 5 to 20 minutes, journey time of 25 minutes) you should get off at the last stop called Dejvicka where you can transfer to underground line A. In just a few metro stops you will be in the city centre. When buying a 26 CZK ticket for public transport you will receive a transferable ticket allowing you to travel for a 75-minute period. Note that if you are carrying any large pieces of luggage i.e. a backpack or suitcase you will need to purchase an additional ½ price ticket. You can also take the No.100 bus which will take you from the airport to Zlicin - the underground station of the yellow line (B) that leads to the town centre (Mustek station).
This is the information on how to get from the airport to central Prauge. We stayed at Hotel Duo so we used the Metro every day (and the free Tesco bus too!)DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024
