Nationwide £75 switching incentive

Hi folks,

I have yet to recieve the £75 for switching my acccount to Nationwide. It has been two months and one day now and I am beginning to get fairly annoyed about this fact.

The last time that I had to ring them I got a really nice girl and told her about the situation. She took my contact number and said that someone would ring me regarding this. That was fine, however, my phone screen is cracked, so if someone was trying to ring, I have no idea of who it was.

Have any of you guys failed to receive this money from them ? If so, what steps have you undertaken ? Does anyone have a freephone number for them ?

What I am thinking is that one d.debit seems to have failed to come across.

Anyway, this is annoying me as the only reason I joined them was to collect the 75 quid, before shortly moving on to Halifax again.

Any help appreciated.

A. :)

Yes, I am in the same situation. I phoned them last week and was told, after being transferred all over the place, and having to call back a couple of times because no one rings back when they say they will, that the money would be in my account by the 18th May - i.e. yesterday.

Surprise, surprise - it wasn't, so I phoned them today, and got told that I had missed the deadline of 1st March 4pm by 3 minutes, but that they were kindly going to give me the £75 anyway, but couldn't confirm when.

I knew I hadn't left it right to the last minute, so when I came off the phone I checked - the closing date was actually 5th March, and anyway, I did it before 4pm on the 1st. Grrrrrrr. Am really annoyed at how they can promise this deal and then not fulfil it. Let me know how you get on and I will do likewise.

Good stuff, EssexBabe. (Well obviously not "good", but you know what I mean :))

It is a joke that they haven't yet funded my account as they promised they would.

Do you happen to have a freephone number at all for them ?

0800 30 20 10, ask for Flex Account department. They'll tell you that it's the Account Transfer department or the Marketing department that deal with this (depending on who you speak to). Best to ring between 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday as the Account Transfer and Marketing departments don't open outside those hours.

The closing date was the 1st March at 4pm.
It was bought forward from the 5th.

The terms of the offer are here.

    When did you apply?
A previous post of yours suggests it was the 18th March which was 17 days after the offer ended.

That is when the account began. I applied a few days before the offer ended - at the tail end of February.

Rang them this morning there. The 0870 app. on the iPhone thankfully works on their Card Services number, so that was good; especially as they put me on hold for a long while.

Anyway, they are to ring me back regarding this. Said it will probs not be today as "their systems are running slow." Hopefully I will get this sorted out once and for all.

    Cheers.

    Still nothing.

My girlfriend suggests contacting the Finanacial Obudsman about this. I really just want shot of them now. Absolutely ridiculous service...!!

Still nowt. Not a phone call or anything. Absolute shambles. Wish I hadn't have bothered with this, to be honest. A stern phone call is required as I am none too pleased.....

Have you tried sending them an email through the internal system? If you go into your accounts online there is a message section.

I have always found that they respond well to them - much better than phone calls. When I was late getting a previous payout I emailed them asking when I would be credited. I specified when my a/c had been completed (you should have got a letter), and that I felt I had adhered to all the conditions ie. not specified to delay the transfer or choose between d/ds etc transferred, and also that the 8 week deadline had passed.

Good luck. I have found them to be good payers for their incentives, unlike Santander, so am assuming that you have been inadvertently been missed, not deliberately avoided.
