    I support these;

    The Royal British Legion
    Help for Heroes
    Royal Air Force Association
ASSISI Animal Sancturary (where I got Daisy Cat from)
And a new Forces related charity,Holidays4Heroes which has been going for 2 years now & ran by ex-servicemen & women. It originated on the website ARRSE,The ARmy Rumour SErvice one christmas when it came to light of a ex soldiers plight.
Donations from members flooded in & within 24Hrs,the ex soldier was sorted.
Since thenit's grown now & the main aim is to send injured servicemen & their families as well as the families of servicemen kia over to Spain for a break or recouperation.

Spike has a horrid habit of getting in first with these two which I also support (although hols isn't a charity yet its still "merely" a not for profit org, but is planning to go the charity route in the near future.
My third is the RNLI - they've come to pick me up more than once (never through circumstances of my own making thankfully).
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

I support Hope Rescue but not always with regular donation as I foster dogs for them so help out that way and I go along to fundraisers etc. when I can.

I also give to a number of other charities but again none as a regular donation mostly just if I see something I support with a collection tin somewhere.

I used to give a donation to charity every year for xmas, I'd pick a different one every year but the last two years have been a struggle for money so I couldn't give as much as I'd like.

Most of the charities I support are animal and children's charities.

hi there , we try and support charities that are close to our hearts, recently my wife was lucky enough to work at the royal welsh fusiliers in Chester doing a face painting gig for the young children awaiting their mums and dads to come back from afghanistan, we both ended up in tears on the drive home as we reflected on what these children go through, no mum/dad for 6 months at a time and then some of them arent lucky enough to get a father/ mother home in one peace, it was very very moving, since then our business has been involved with Help for Heroes and although we charge for our services, we are an event promotion company, (face Painters balloon modellers promo staff etc,), it really is a pleasure to be involved in some way, before that we have always supported the RNLI , i used to sail,.. maybe its the heroes tag that gets us.. or maybe its just supporting the children in our way.. id like to hear about any charities for the children of the armed forces, if there are any, i think what spare cash we have would head that way.

    FACE IN A CROWD

i should add as a post script..

the sheer nature of our business means its almost expected to do gigs for free, all the girls that earna crust face painting tend to give up several days a year for different events.. its always amazed me at their genorosity to be honest.. imagine if everyone that worked did that,, gave up lets say .. three days wages a year and popped them in a charuity box?

I resent some of the bigger charities abusing the system.

Not long ago the Irish Air Ambulance closed because they total raised was around £700k yet all that physically went to the air ambulance was £60k So much was spent on admin, high salaries, people went on fundraiser trips and did nt think twice about their high hotel bills. It's happening all over, the cancer research, the age concern, etc etc etc.
Give the tramp who is obviously in need a cup of soup sitting outsied a bus station a sandwich and a cup of soup, he get 100% of your gift, give to the biggies and the people in actual need get around 20%of your donation.
So how do you think that the end service that is given by the various aspects of the NHS is derived from your contributions through taxation - do all the admin, utility and estates management charges come for free??
In the case of the Ireland Air Ambulance it was a misconceived/mismanaged organisation that tried to put the cart before the horse.Every organisation has running costs and need to hire the best staff to ensure adequate and sustainable funding is in place.
As far as the tramp/soup scenario goes I know what sort of soup most of the street dwelers here are looking for and it's not Campbells (unless that is a specially blended scotch derived drink!).
