Gloss or Satinwood for Interior Doors and Skirting Boards?

I prefer gloss as its easier to clean and doesnt chipp off as easier! however i hate painting with gloss! its a paint to get off your fingers!!!0

I dont think that oil-based satinwood is any less durable than oil-based gloss. however I prefer to use water-based gloss or satin (you can get either) as it is touch dry in an hour as opposed to taking overnight with oil-based satin, plus it doesnt stink and brushes are easier to wash.
gloss paint shows up any imperfections much more than flatter finishes. I think any chips etc show up more as well. in our last place with 100 yr old woodwork we used eggshell which is almost completely matt, to camouflage all the previous chips and knocks.
the odd chip is inevitable with kids, whatever finish you go for...0
