Natwest Mobile phone insurance delay after delay!

I lost my phone on 26/04/10, phoned vodafone to cancel my sim and then reported my phone lost to natwest. They told me to fill in a form they will send me and send a proof of purchase of my phone, then on receipt of the form they will have an outcome of my claim within 5-10 working days. I sent my form and proof of purchase via 1st class recorded delivery on 29/04/10. I phoned them on 08/05/10 to see how my claim is going and they said that although they received my forms on 30/04/10 they didnt start processing them till 05/05/10, which I accepted as I can understand their backlog. Then on 11/05/10 I get a call saying that they need a proof of sim card cancellation (wasnt even told about to send in original call) and another proof of purchase with an IMEI number. I then sent that those further details the same day on 11/05/10 via email, the advisor gave the impression that it was in processing and once my email is received it will be a matter of crossing the t's and dotting the i's. I then made a call yesterday on 18/05/10, the day which it had been 10 working days since the 5th May, and they said that the investigation will take 10 working days since the 11th when I sent the email.

Which is one of the reasons why you should always get your mobile insurance direct from the network.
I was thinking of upgrading to LTSB Silver when I got my iPhone for the insurance, but decided instead to get O2's £15/month policy.
Yes I know it's almost double the cost monthly, but the excess is lower and they take the claim over the phone and send a brand new replacement within 24 hours. No paperwork.
Well worth the extra money.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0 -
£15 a month for insurance ?! Mental. I just make sure my phone, keys and wallet are safe in my pocket each time I go or leave somewhere. 15 quid is crazy beans, imo !!0

Putting £15 per month in a savings account would soon build up to pay for a new phone rather than pay that insurance?0

Phones can get damaged in pockets, and also stolen you know?
I'd rather pay £15 to O2 than pay £8 a month to LTSB, when I know for a fact you have to wait for paperwork, fill it out, send a load of guff back with it, pay a hefty excess and then wait 3-4 weeks in total for a replacement. (As perfectly demonstrated in the first post)
With O2, there's no paperwork (telephone claim). Smaller excess and brand new phone couriered next day. Job done.
Normally I wouldn't bother with insurance, but iPhone 3GS 32GB's don't come cheap!!I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. I will take out insurance with my network provider next time. Natwest mobile phone insurance is very amateur! I would not reccomend it to anybody!
I feel like I will never ever get my phone back at the rate things are going.0 -

Say you have your phone nicked after 3 months - I don't think £45 would buy a new iPhone 32GB 3GS.... :rotfl:I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Anyone have any advice as to what I can do about my situation? This could just go on forever and I feel powerless.0

If you're satisfied that your claim is fully covered by the policy, then write and complain, giving them 7 days notice that you will commence legal action in the county court.0
