OK, looking at new cars, I found the following:
http://www.dealdrivers.co.uk/
http://www.carpricechecker.co.uk/
http://www.broadspeed.com/
I have no knowledge about them other than a week's time spent on the net. Please post up the ones where you have found good prices and if you have any personal experience, then all the better. Thanks

One thing I know for sure is anywhere that says they need to retain the logbook and/or you'll not be the first registered keeper shouldn't be touched with a bargepole.
Drive The Deal are widely acclaimed too0 -
carfile.net are recommended by What Car?The man without a signature.0

i used drive the deal 5 years ago was very pleased with the service.0

broadspeed get a good name as they are merely a 'front' for the InchCape group who have many many dealerships and brands in their network - they simply put you in touch with the dealer in their group who will give you the fleet discount price, thus you're getting a UK car and dealing with a UK dealer.
Beware websites that talk about 'full uk specification' as invariably they are imports. Importers will also talk about the car 'coming from another EU country therefore its not an import', or being 'from the same factory but coming to us via another route'.0 -
Anyone got any more they can add. Googling seems to bring up 99% rubbish. Or I am crap at googling !0

Thanks for that - will take a look.
In the end, one of my arguments to the dealer is going to be that the online agents actually use the dealer network in some cases and if they want to stand any chance of getting my service business, they will have to compete with the internet.
I saw one online agent who advertised up front that the log books would be retained. I was impressed as that was on offer cars on the main page. Not really what I want but also the discounts are not enough. Take a hypothetical 10k motor at list. Now I reckon I can get that for 8k new anyway as first owner with full warranty and no miles. So to be a second owner and with say 3k miles and with a loss of 6 months warranty, I would only be looking at paying 6k and these clowns put them up at 9k, thinking they might get 8k or 8.5k.0 -
Don't touch 2nd owner cars through brokers. Just don't.
So many reasons why they're dodgy :rotfl:0 -
I bought my new car through carfile. Wonderful service, pain free, car was delivered to my door and old car taken away.
During scrappage several of us on here used them and we have all been very pleased.
Give Jonathan a ring on carfile - he is a lovely bloke, not a high pressure salesman! tell him what you are looking for. He will contact his main dealers and they will give you a no obligation quote.
