That is probably because Sky don't transmit in 5.1, but it does allow the 2 channel stereo down the HDMI lead which the Logitech speakers will happily work with if the television can do the audio passthrough correctly.

    PS

Can't find accurate specs on your DVD system.
One site says it has optical in, other sites make no mention.

Sky does transmit in 5.1, just not down the HDMI port
And the logitech doesnt have an optical in, nor does it have hdmi in or digital co ax in

  • Just to clarify, should I purchase a "twin RCA phono to Phono audio lead" to hook up the HD box to the receiver?

And yes, there is no digital input ports on the receiver.

    Appreciate your help guys.

SKY HD boxes dont allow 5.1 down HDMI cables (Which I think is a complete p*sstake)

    You sure? Wow.

As the OPs speaker system is 2.1, they might as well just hook the telly up to it. There'll be no difference between hooking the Sky box, DVD player etc up to the speakers than just the telly with it being 2.1.
