Should I try to apply for a new card and which one?

Hi all
I got turned down for a Barclaycard CC last Sept or Oct and again when I applied for my banks own CC. I didn't think I had a poor credit history as I've never had any CCJ's or defaults just the occasional late payment, however I did have 5 credit cards all of which were almost maxed out. A financial advisor told me this was the probable cause of the rejection.
So I've spent the last 7 months trying to rebuild my credit but this is proving exceptionally difficult as I'm paying top whack interest on all my cards so I'm only paying a few quid off my balance, however over the past 6 weeks a couple of my cards have increased my credit limit....a sign hopefully that all the hard work is paying off?
However I need to start shifting this debt and the only way that I can do this is to try and get some of the debt on a 0%, but I'm scared of applying incase I get rejected again also I don't know which card to try to apply for as I don't know which one's are linked to the one's I've got.
Moneyextra says my credit is good and I tried to get my credit file from Experian but as I've already had my 1 months free trial about a year or 2 ago so it won't give me it free.
My current credit cards are:-
Halifax One
Britannia
Abbey
Mint
Lloyds
I was thinking of applying for RBS but not sure if that's with Halifax and Britannia?
Any suggestions on what I should do would be appreciated.
Many thanks

RBS owns Mint, so if you apply for a Mint card and are accpeted then you wouldn't be able to transfer it to an RBS card unfortunately.
Halifax are part of HBOS which is owned by Lloyds Banking Group. Bank of Scotland are part of that group also. You may struggle to get another Credit Card due to the number that you hold, have you got any with nil balances that you can cancel prior to doing a new application?Best Regards

No unfortunately, although I did have an Egg card which was cancelled about 18mnths ago, that had 0 balance on it for a year or two prior to cancelling it, would that be my best bet?0

Well you could try a different provider i.e. Egg, on the basis that you cancelled your credit limit with them. Any application they make is credit scored, so it will possibly have to be reassessed.Best Regards
