I think (not 100% sure) Eon will supply a single rate tariff with a dual rate meter, but if not will not charge for the change of meter.

    Hi,

That's 100% right Premier. We can add the rates together and bill on a single rate tariff if a customer has a Economy 7 meter.

    oh i see.

I wasnt sure what it meant becuase I had a meter that has 2 readings high and low and I always thought economy 7 meant storage heaters.

So when I do price comparisons then if it says do you have economy 7 i should say yes?

I was with Npower before I switched to Eon and so I know that both of these companies just charge me the one rate like you said but I didnt know that with Scottish power you have to pay for it.

I think that has probably helped me to decide that maybe I wont switch to Scottish power after all as the savings arent going to be that great.

I may switch to Npower and stay with them for the year to get all the savings but the prices arent capped on the npower sign online tariff? Is that likely to cause problems or is it best to switch to a capped tariff?

Unfortunately, you can't use the price comparisons sites fully as they don't allow you to directly compare a single rate tariff Vs an economy 7 tariff (or vice versa)

What you will have to do is carry out the comparison twice (for a single rate and E7), ignore any suggested savings and look only at the actual cost and compare for yourself what would be the cheapest option.
