Turned down for Halifax Reward

I applied for a Halifax Reward account recently to get the free fiver every month and to have an account to use for matched betting to keep it seperate from my main account.

I did not apply for an overdraft, just a normal account.

I have lots of different accounts, but my credit file is squeaky clean. Has anyone else had trouble opening a Halifax acct before?

Have you asked Halifax for the reason for rejecting you - you mention your credit scoring, did they give you any further information?
    Best Regards

"Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

I was recently turned down for a current account (with a different bank) for 'having too many current accounts'.

Would it make a difference if I turned down the offer of the overdraft facility when opening new accounts? Then perhaps it wouldn't appear on my credit record?

They mention in the letter that they give a score to each piece of information that I gave them, and then added it up. So it wasn't a credit score since I didn't ask for an overdraft, but a 'Halifax score.'

Realistically I don't think so. I think I have lots of accounts, but compared to some people on this board I barely have any. I mean some people have 3 of these rewards accounts in addition to many others.

If you don't ask for an overdraft, you won't be credit-checked as you're not asking for unsecured credit. I have an A+L account and CitiBank accounts with no overdraft, I wasn't credit checked and they don't appear on my credit record.

The information you have given with regards to the halifax reward account is incorrect.

The Halifax reward account is credit scored regardless of whether you request an overdraft facility or not.:o

Why not open a basic account with Halifax and transfer it to a reward account in a few months time. Alternatively, try opening the same account with the Bank Of Scotland.

As a matter of interest, I wonder how much Halifax are paying each month to their reward customers?

Why waste another search with the bank of Scotland?

With regards to how much Halifax are paying thier reward account customers per month, I was under the impression it was £5.00.
